Why dont friendly cap ships jump when they are about to die
i noticed a few times they jumped in fs1 but not in fs2
its always teh shivan or vasudan ships to jump out of the aream when they are on the verge of destruction
i think more missions hsould be created where command uses a little more sense and saves an expensive ship from destrucion

Vusadans are regenades and are willing to die. Plus jump drives take time to power up, what would it be like in the campaign if all the ships left before they were blown up?

A lot of ships in FS2 were blown up before they could even think of leaving, like the Psamtik or the two 'vettes when the Ravana shows up. Big C refused to leave and this Hecate that had order to hold the first Sath until you did your job does leave (if it gets the chance)

I think that their intrasystem subspace drives might not be recharged when the enemies come in.

Captain: Well were disabled and were screwed, might as well get drunk and through in some smokes.

2 minutes later

Captain: This is some good crap.

Gunnery Control: This stuff is the best *puff* too much smoke (faints)
Command: Colossus were pulling you out!
Colossus: No way command, we'll let the bunnies live, the bunnies must live.

(cuts to Gilligan's Island)
Skipper! Theres a red and black thingy in the sky!
Whats wrong with you? Theres nothing near here.

(back to the Colossus)
Pretty red bunnies are coming to hide in our ship through those light thingys! Their screeching with joy too!

I don't think they ever mentioned the captain of the Colossus, did they? Probably an Admiral. It would be nice to have a fiction  about him, about his ship.

If pilots did jump out, they would get into serious trouble when they got back to base, as you do.

i dont think command would mind if its hull was at 20 percent and jumped out
whats better loseing ships and lives or saving a ship and lives?

I figure that in the heat of battle, the ships jump systems may be damaged or destroyed.  Which is how I "explain" a ship not jumping out during some of my missions.

At 12% hull, your hanging by a thread....sometimes your engines might be fine and sometimes they may look like roast beef thats been in a few hours too long.

losing the ship makes pretty fireworks, nothing better to increase troups moral than a pretty firework
