Hello,
I just recently acquired freespace 2, the original commercial version, and its patched up to 1.2.
Not sure I'm asking in the right place, but figured I'd give it a shot.
A friend and I want to direct connect and play vs. each other, but obviously pxo being long gone, that's not so simple it seems.
I tried searching through the in game menus, but can't seem to find a way to just enter a person's ip and play.
Any ideas?

Go to the SCP forum and grab either a recent SCP build or the "Old Client+ FS2NetD" build.  They are PXO replacements and will allow you to play your multi the way it was intended.
