I've browsed through the wiki looking for lists of keyboard hotkeys for FS, FS2 and FSO but couldn't find any. Could someone direct me toward the proper information? Thanks!

Actually, I'd love to see the list as well.. I had to go searching last time, and I can't remember where I eventually found it! (there are some real gems in there. 'K' is useful in some of the ST:R missions)

I am. You are searching for information on hotkeys. It seems that there is no wiki article about them. I directed you towards the games, because the keyboard configuration can be found there and all known keyboard functions are listed there. Now I'd like to know why you need hotkeys if you don't have the games. If you don't have the games, there is little point in your query.

In mission the main keys are all user definable so the suggested method on checking what individual keys do is either to press F1 and read what individual keys do or then access the options screen and control configuration via F2.

There are certain other hotkeys for menu/interface but those are a separate and i do not have them ready atm. These menu hotkeys are not user definable (for most parts - yet) and might warrant for some information also in the wiki.

That's helpful, but I thought there were also commands for changing the camera orientation? At least, FS1 has them.

While in external view, unlock your camera with one of the numpad keys (dunno which) , then use the numbers to move around.

It's unlocked by default ,NUM Enter is used to lock it. (at least if you enter external mode via NUM Delete)

Some interesting ones that are kinda hidden:

Num-. Num-/ and Num-* are used to change the camera

U is used to target unscanned objects

B is to target bombs/bombers

N is to target the newest targets in the mission

V targets the subsystem in the reticule

Y targets the ship in the reticule

I use B, V, Y and H exclusively for my targeting needs.
Though targeting the newest target could be useful... I'll keep that one in mind for sure.

You forgot E. I pretty much stay on the same course.

I memorized all the ones mentioned

As well as the G key, which targets the newest ship attacking you,

and especially the J key, which targets your targets' target. useful for seeing which capital ships are attacking who, so you can see who's cannons to knock out first.

the scroll lock key is also especially useful, which shuns energy from your weapons to your shields so you can recharge them quickly.

The U key also works on unscanned ships and freighters, which is really useful for recon missions and user made campaigns.

I use the Y key excsessively, as that function is even mapped to my joystick. I find it easier to target the ship I'm looking at then the closest hostile ship (which is useful function all on it's own)

Also remember that all targeting functions (except Y) go from nearest to farthest ship, and if you press the button again after not touching it for a few seconds, it will target the nearest ship to you again. If it's the same ship, nothing happens.

The N key is also useful to target bombers who just warped in.

Never knew about J, and I read all of the keys in the options menu.

Alt+R summons a support ship, and if you C-<Ship Number>-4 it it will stay near you instead of going 2000km away.

Never used G (or R or whatever). I just cycle through with H until I see something pointed at me - then I'd know who's attacking me.
I remember using J once or twice in FSPort to target the Shivans.
