Re: Most Emotional/Impactful Moment In A Game (Possible Spoilers!)
Game's rarely manage to move me in any emotional way.

That being said: Any of Iji's endings.  Although, the bad one is the best one.

Oh, and all of the times when you 'screw-up' in Cave Story.

Re: Most Emotional/Impactful Moment In A Game (Possible Spoilers!)
Hmm...this is kind of a toughie for me.  I'm kind of a fan of the action side of games, so my favorite titles don't tend to have many truly emotional moments to them.  I guess I could scrounge a few up.

1) As has been mentioned before, the ending of HL2: Episode 2.  Man, that was a punch in the gut.

2) The entire ending sequence of ICO, and indeed the general emotional presentation of that game as a whole.  Traveling through this beautiful ruined castle with a mysterious girl you don't know anything about, repeatedly protecting her from shadow creatures, being separated from her, trying to go after her, and then having everything come full circle like that at the end...just awesome.  Suck it, Ebert, that was art.

3) Coincidentally enough, the introductory sequence of Shadow of the Colossus.  Another set of ancient ruins, a solitary horseman placing a female body on a stone altar, a disembodied voice...the whole setup sends shivers down your spine.  I really need to finish that game one of these years.

4) It may sound silly, but the moment in the Descent 3 intro when the hulk of your loyal Pyro-GX gets dropped into that star.  There's some great orchestral music playing in the background, and you can't help but think of everything that ship and you had been through.  Brings a tear to my eye. :(

5) The scene in Beyond Good & Evil when Jade comes back to the lighthouse and finds everyone gone.  The acting and the soundtrack mesh together to create a really powerful emotional moment.

6) The entire confrontation with Saavedro at the end of Myst III: Exile.  Brad Dourif plays just about the most convincing crazy man I've ever seen, and watching him go through a roller-coaster of emotions in a matter of minutes was something else.

I can probably come up with one or two other things if I poke through my games collection for a bit. :p

One of the ghost sequences in System Shock 2 depicted a mad doc operating on a conscious victim. That disturbed me greatly at the time--I believe it was the first time I'd encountered anything like that in any medium.
I will ask that you explain yourself. Please do so with the clear understanding that I may decide I am angry enough to destroy all of you and raze this sickening mausoleum of fraud down to the naked rock it stands on.

:o ok. I've never bothered with it. Seems like Oblivion. I just about tolerated that. . . . Because I was evil.

Re: Most Emotional/Impactful Moment In A Game (Possible Spoilers!)
First, I'd like to shout out to Homeworld 1 at Kharak and the end of HL2:Ep2.

For me, there was Breath of Fire IV, when you find Nina's sister, and also when they fire the hex cannon.
In Final Fantasy XI, when I beat Maat on the fourth try with only 50hp left.
The end of every good X-COM (EDIT: Possibly not the first one, can't remember), when you find out
Spoiler:
that the team that you spent the whole game building into a well-oiled killing machine dies in a blaze of glory when they finish the final mission. This bugged me so much that in Apolcalypse I made a whole squad of android soldiers specifically to go on the final mission, keeping the squishy organics home and safe.
That's all I can think of for now.

The ending to Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare.

The end of F.E.A.R.  Say what you will, but the first time those things came at me, I almost crapped myself.

I've got a couple more, somewhere.

Re: Most Emotional/Impactful Moment In A Game (Possible Spoilers!)
Oh, that reminds me: Aliens vs. Predator demo. Walking around, throwing flares, listening and watching your motion detector, but it doesn't do any good becuase just then WHAM! Alien all up in your face and you hit the trigger and don't let off until your pulse rifle's dry and the hallway is covered in acid blood.
And then moving a little further and repeating.
And then getting it from behind and starting over. Rahhh, rahh, splorch.

Don't know about emotional, but there is a bit in the first FEAR when you go to climb down a ladder in some dark and dank basement. I looked around to make sure nothing was about, pressed the button to go down the ladder, which puts your gun away, then you step onto the ladder and turn round and Alma is standing at the top of the ladder! I nearly **** myself!!!

Also FS1 intro. Poor Lt Ash. :(

Re: Most Emotional/Impactful Moment In A Game (Possible Spoilers!)
Personally, I didn't like Ash's voice actor (I think I've said this before). It could be the quality of my speakers, and/or the fact I played FS1 after FS2 and have FS2 ingrained as the best FS game, but I just thought his VA sounded like a teenage kid, or just lacked masculinity. I dunno, I didn't like his VA.

ANYWAY

I found Brothers in Arms: Hell's Highway to be a decently emotional wargame for the xbawks. <3

For me, there have been a few, the mission in starcraft where kerrigan gets left behind in the terran campaign was a shock, also the new Ghost of the past (launch trailer) sent a chill down my spine. The FS1 intro mad me feel sad and did send a chill down my spine.

Snap, there where one or two other parts of the first FEAR near the start that did the same.
Mass Effect 2 if your characters starting dying at the end, i also felt sad when the Normandy 1 gets destroyed at the beginning.

the scenes in WOW wrath of the lich king, where the allaince, horde are outside Arthas/Ner-zhul's stronghold, first they get gassed and then they get torched by the dragons, and the death of arthas/ner is quite touching.

As for HL2 ep2 i didn't really move anything in me   :nervous:

You have no soul.
17:37:02   Quanto: I want to have sexual intercourse with every space elf in existence
17:37:11   SpardaSon21: even the males?
17:37:22   Quanto: its not gay if its an elf

[21:51] <@Droid803> I now realize
[21:51] <@Droid803> this will be SLIIIIIGHTLY awkward
[21:51] <@Droid803> as this rich psychic girl will now be tsundere for a loli.
[21:51] <@Droid803> OH WELLL.

See what you're missing in #WoD and #Fsquest?

[07:57:32] <Caiaphas> inspired by HerraTohtori i built a supermaneuverable plane in ksp
[07:57:43] <Caiaphas> i just killed my pilots with a high-g maneuver
[07:58:19] <Caiaphas> apparently people can't take 20 gees for 5 continuous seconds
[08:00:11] <Caiaphas> the plane however performed admirably, and only crashed because it no longer had any guidance systems

It didn't move me either.  Though, that was probably because I saw the entire thing coming from a mile away.
