I've been looking around on the minecraft server list, but so far no luck. Most run somd strange mods or have some strange rules.

Yeah, it's a dodgy build, and with the minecraft.net logins not having good uptime recently, we haven't really been able to start building a spawntown on the new server yet, might be a bit later than anticipated.

I've noticed on the new version you no longer have to remove grass before placing blocks on them, which is brilliant. It doesn't work perfectly but it's so much better than having to weed a huge area before building on it

Rereading start of thread.  Even more depressed about map reset.

In lighter news, instead of using the easy (cheating) way to get villagers to an old beta NPC village on my SP map, I instead built a rail line that has to be pushing 2 km.  Yes, I'm that stupid.  Especially since there was a closer new village that probably would have required far less rail.

Also I'm experiencing an incredibly annoying issue where my character intermittently gets stuck moving in a certain direction.  I think the game's lagging for a moment just as I push a certain key, and then acting like that key is being continually pressed.

I think the only time I've legitimately "cheated" was once or twice on my Skyblock maps, usually when I did something totally stupid to lose my bucket/lava and was far enough along that I didn't have the heart to restart.  Now that I think about it, I just did it on my Skyblock 2.1 map when I accidentally knocked the sand cube out of the sky.

Install Optifine, it has an option called "Smooth Input" that prevents "stuck keys" which seems to fit the description of your issue, it has never happened to me before, tho, so I dunno... Also it has a ton of other goodies and it's been reported to DOUBLE the framerate on some systems. Linkage to the mod Also, it eliminates the need to patch if you are using an HD texture pack and can change textures on the fly (tho, i think that was later added to minecraft, not sure since i've been using it for so long)

love hate here, love the challenge of working near it without using water on it.  Hate loosing my kit if I fall in it.

What's so bad about lava?  It just kinda sits there passively.  If you fall in it, it's either because you derped up, failed to exercise caution in regards to mobs, derped hard with your lava bucket, or fell to a devious trap set up by another player or modmaker.

Skeletons on the other hand, I HATE those.
