You have several options to choose from:
Option 1: Download The FreeSpace Open SCP Off-line Installer Files.
This will install all the latest 3.6.10 FINAL Files including the MediaVPs, FreeSpace Port and 15 User-Made Campaigns
(Note: Requires FreeSpace 2 to be installed!)
Option 2: Download The FreeSpace Campaign Pack v2.0 Installer Files.
This will install 100 additional User-Made Campaigns for FreeSpace and FreeSpace 2.
(Note: Requires FreeSpace 2 and FSO SCP [OPTION 1] to be installed!)
Option 3: Download The FreeSpace 2 + FSO SCP DVD Kit Files.
This package is for archiving your FreeSpace 2 Retail Installer and the FSO Off-line Installer to one DVD.
(Note: Requires 1 Blank DVD Media for burning to disc)
Option 4: Download The FreeSpace All in One DVD Kit Files.
This package is for archiving ALL your FreeSpace files to one DVD.
I.E. - Both FreeSpace and FreeSpace 2 Retail Packages from GOG.com plus the FSO SCP Off-line Installer files and Campaign Pack v2.0 file on one DVD.
(Note: Requires 1 Blank DVD9 Dual Layer Media for burning to disc)
Option 5: Download The FreeSpace 2 Extra Stuff Files.

I am happy to present to you the brand new FreeSpace Open SCP 3.6.10 Off-line Installer. The FreeSpace Open SCP 3.6.10 Off-line Installer contains everything Turey's Online Installer does but in a traditional installation format. After downloading the files below to the same folder, simply extract them to a temp folder of your choosing. After the extraction is complete you can delete the FSO_3610_Setup rar files. Then browse to the folder you extracted the installation files to and double-click the Setup.exe file (the one with the FreeSpace icon) to begin installation. You MUST HAVE FreeSpace 2 INSTALLED and you MUST INSTALL the FSO SCP 3.6.10 files to your existing FreeSpace 2 folder.
(Note: Requires FreeSpace 2 to be installed!)

The FreeSpace Campaign Pack v2.0 contains 100 (yes, I said 100) User-Made Campaigns for FreeSpace Port and FreeSpace 2 SCP as well as campaigns for the retail versions not included in the FreeSpace Open Installers. After downloading the files below to the same folder, simply extract them to a temp folder of your choosing. After the extraction is complete you can delete the FS_CP_2_0_Setup rar files. Then browse to the folder you extracted the installation files to and double-click the FSO_CampaignPack_v2_0.exe file to begin installation. You MUST HAVE FreeSpace 2 and FSO SCP INSTALLED and you MUST INSTALL to your existing FreeSpace 2 folder. This package replaces the previous FS Campaign Pack.

This package is offered for those who wish to archive both the FreeSpace 2 Installer from GOG.com (downloaded seperately) and the FSO SCP Off-line Installer (downloaded seperately) to DVD (basically the minumum required files). After downloading the file below, simply extract it to a temp folder of your choosing. After the extraction is complete you can delete the FS2_FSO_DVD_Menu_Only rar file. Then browse to the folder you extracted the DVD files to. Now place the setup_freespace_2.exe file you downloaded from GOG.com in the FS2Setup folder. If you downloaded the FreeSpace 2 Extras from GOG.com, place them in the Extras folder. Now place all the extracted the FSO SCP Off-line Installer files (the files only, no sub-folder) in the FSOsetup folder. Now you are ready to burn all the contents of the temp folder (not the temp folder itself) to DVD. Now you have a nice archive of your FreeSpace 2 and FSO SCP files when you need to reinstall in the future without having to re-download the required files and installation can be done from a central menu (pictured above).

This package is offered for the true harcore FreeSpace enthusiast (raise your hand!) who wishes to archive both the FreeSpace & FreeSpace 2 Games purchased from GOG.com (downloaded seperately) and both the FSO SCP Off-line and the FreeSpace Campaign Pack v2.0 (downloaded seperately) to one DVD disc (requires dual layer DVD 9 media). After downloading the FS_All_in_One_DVD_Menu_Only file below, simply extract it to a temp folder of your choosing. After the extraction is complete you can delete the FS_All_in_One_DVD_Menu_Only rar file. Then browse to the folder you extracted the DVD files to. Now place the setup_freespace.exe file you downloaded from GOG.com in the FS1Setup folder. Next, place the setup_freespace_2.exe file you downloaded from GOG.com in the FS2Setup folder. Okay, I am a n00b, but I thought I followed the directions well. I bought both FreeSpace 1 and 2 from gog.com. I installed FS2 to c:\games\FreeSpace 2. I then downloaded FREESPACE OPEN SCP OFF-LINE INSTALLER and installed that to the same directory as FreeSpace 2. I then opened up the launcher and went to mod and clicked select mod. I pointed it to the fsport-mediavps directory. In the mod window it now says:
"Freespace Port Media VPs. Requires FSPort 3.1.1 and standard Media VPs 3.6.10."
When I click run I get a host of errors:

Web cursor bitmap not found. This is most likely due to one of three reasons:
1) You're running FreeSpace Open from somewhere other than your FreeSpace 2 folder;
2) You've somehow corrupted your FreeSpace 2 installation, e.g. by modifying or removing the retail VP files;
3) You haven't installed FreeSpace 2 at all. (Note that installing FreeSpace Open does NOT remove the need for a FreeSpace 2 installation.)
Number 1 can be fixed by simply moving the FreeSpace Open executable file to the FreeSpace 2 folder. Numbers 2 and 3 can be fixed by installing or reinstalling FreeSpace 2.

I cna run FreeSpace 2 okay, but anytime I try to run FreeSpace 1 port I cannot. Any ideas what is going wrong?

This should be pretty self-explanatory, and since you mentioned installing FS2, we can rule out #3. But,

Well, after a whole day of dl-ing the files I hopefully installed the package to my retail FS 2 (german version, freshly instaled, no additions) folder and launched the launcher.
1st error: something about some corrupted mediavps tbm´s. (unfortunatly THIS one I didn´t copy.)
So, having the trouble warnings about instalers and mediavps in mind, I dl-ed themost recent mediavps-complete and music seperately and exchanged them in my Freespace directory. :wtf:
2nd attempt:

Probably not. It's more a feature for coders, not a magic button that solves problems.

I downloaded the build from this thread.
Yes I did select apply before running.
Lastly, I tried fs2_open_3_6_10d.exe. When I get the first error above and press okay, the program crashes.

I also went back to fs2_open_3_6_10.exe and said okay to all the errors to try to get to the main hall then quit, but I only get a black screen with a cursor and no way to create a pilot or start a game.

Your FreeSpace 2 is not installed in C:\games\Freespace 2\ .
Initializing OpenGL graphics device at 640x480 with 16-bit color...Please use 32-bit colours. And I assume you could run with a higher resolution.
I tried to say earlier that run the debug build as far as you can, at most to the Main Hall. As in, if it crashes before that, it crashes. No biggie.

When using the gog.com installer I selected C:\games\Freespace 2\ as the install directory. Did it then create a subdirectory called fresspace 2 to install to? I do have a file path of C:\games\Freespace 2\Freespace 2 in the directory.

If there is stuff in there, that's what probably happened.
Move all the stuff from \freespace 2\freespace 2\ to \freespace2\.

Wow okay that worked. I feel like a moron.... that gog.com installer is a little confusing. Might want to add that to any manuals for installs. Thanks so much guys! My friend convinced me this is the best space game ever. Going to give it a shot!

New to all of this so a stupid question, Does option 1 have all of the missions option 2 has?? I also am thinking that the 3.6.10 files must be replaced with the ones released today, correct???

Downloaded OPTION 2 today and when I tried to unzip (using 7 Zip) part 2 I get the following message:
"Data error in 'FSO_CampaignPack_v2_0.exe'. File is broken"
Any Ideas???? I tried several times with the same result. :confused:

I dowloaded every thing and when I try to extract "FSO setup 3610 part 2 " I get a error data11.cab file broken. I downloaded the file agin and get the same error. Thanks for any help. If I update FS the standard way can I still install the 100 campaigns from option 2.

Seem option 2 will only un-zip using WinRAR. At least I got the campaigns now.

I tried another un-zipper and now I'm fine. It looks and runs great. donate to this site. Is there anyway to update fs1?

Not directly, no. There is the FSPort, which ports the FS1 missions to FS2, but it isn't a 1:1 equivalent. (Look in the FreeSpace Conversion board)

Hey I downloaded this a few days ago and everything has been working great. Derelict, STR, Blue Planet, FSPort, all working great and so has FS2 up until... mission 4. For some reason whenever I go to load the fourth mission I get the following error message:

Grab the updated mission file listed under the "Known Issues" section here (http://www.hard-light.net/forums/index.php/topic,65038.0.html), and save it to the indicated directory. The mission file in the most recent MediaVP release was a bit bugged.

Huh...you're right. I thought I had seen a repaired version of that mission floating around, but I guess it didn't make it into that post. The mission file in this post (http://www.hard-light.net/forums/index.php/topic,58230.msg1284230.html#msg1284230) should be what you need.

I'm downloading all the files (from all of the options) ATM so I can seed when someone does post a torrent.

@hip63: Can you post the MD5 sums of all the files you uploaded? I have downloaded all of them at least twice (some of them three times), and there is corruption in the .rar files and I want to be certain it's on my end, not MegaUpload's... re-downloading fixed some on the second try, but some are still corrupted on the third try downloading. I downloaded all of your files (there are 8, correct?) and currently have 3 broken.

It's an issue with 7-zip. I had the same issue. I downloaded the trial for WinRar and the files extracted without anymore problems.

Is there a way to make a nifty DVD using my ORIGINAL Freespace 2 CD's? I don't want to spend money on the GOG.com copies when I still have the originals.

I would do it this way: Install FS2 and all the FSO goodies you would like. Burn your FS2 directory to a DVD. If you want to reinstall FS2, just copy the contents of the DVD to your HD, and play away.

Downloaded OPTION 2 today and when I tried to unzip (using 7 Zip) part 2 I get the following message:
"Data error in 'FSO_CampaignPack_v2_0.exe'. File is broken"
Any Ideas???? I tried several times with the same result. :confused:

It's an issue with 7-zip. I had the same issue. I downloaded the trial for WinRar and the files extracted without anymore problems.
Can you do me a favor and have WinRAR check the integrity of the archive? I'm wondering if it is 7-zip or if it is just 7-zip refusing to continue to extract a broken file, while WinRAR just copies it anyways.
EDIT: nvm that, I just installed WinRAR and checked... it tests all good on all archives, so that's good. Apparently 7-zip does have issues, I'm guessing with multi-part .rar archives.

7-zip has a long standing issue with multi part rar archives, yes. But, they have gotten better with each release, they've just stopped putting out releases much lately.

A torrent for this would be wonderful, Megaupload isn't too friendly with download managers and I don't think downloading 1gb files in one hit is going to be a great option

Though it indeed sucks if you're missing only one part. If anyone has the parts, and if you can upload them somewhere where they might actually stay, please provide links so that they can be added as mirrors to the first post.

ALL options would require you to download everything again, since hip63's installer thingy is split into three parts (.rars) and if you're missing one, you can't do **** with the others.
If you need absolutely everything, hope that someone has the third part. If you're just looking for a way to get FSO set up and working, Turey's Installer and manual installation are options to be concidered, since you can choose to only download the FSO executables (and the MediaVPs) without getting every single campaign and mod and ****.

The difference in default settings between this and Turey's is troublesome. When Turey's didn't work for me the other day, I ran the 1st Option and the default settings in this made all of my ships black and turned on the 3d radar.
Turey's seems to be fixed right now anyways.

I've downloaded the FreeSpace Open 3610 off-line installer - parts 1, 2, & 3, and the FS Campaign pack v2.0 (I chose Options 1 & 2 from the top of this thread). So far I understand that all the media packs, etc. that I previously had had to download using the old 3.6.10 installer back in July of 2009 are all included in these new files that I've d/l tonight and that after I install tonight's d/l stuff on top of my FreeSpace 2 game (once I get my new PC*) that I d/l from GOG.com, I won't ever have to d/l anything else, plus I'll be able to simply install everything on top of FreeSpace 2 from GOG.com, next, I'll be able to archive everything by burning my main FreeSpace 2 folder onto a blank DVD, right?
*Am planning to buy a new desktop PC in a couple of months or so, as I no longer have Windows XP on my new MacBook Pro.

Actually, if this pack hasn't been updated since its release, it does NOT contain the newer version of the 3.6.10 MediaVPs, so you'll have to download those from the MediaVPs release thread at the FreeSpace Upgrade Project board. Or at least the patch for the MediaVPs.
But once you do have a working installation of FSO on your computer, yes: you can simply burn the entire \freespace2\ folder onto a DVD (if it fits) and you'll have your backup right there. When the time comes, just punch that DVD into a computer, copy the folder onto the harddrive, run Launcher.exe and that's pretty much it.

I'm having some trouble with megaupload, not sure of the error exactly, I just keep getting 'this page cannot be displayed' after I click the 'regular download' button.
It could be my awful connection, that'd be the most likely culprit, but I'm not sure; ideas?

WOW this is a great thing on this thread, I just got back online after a severe computer failure, motherboard AND hard drive, lost everything including Freespace, backup disk was useless, now I'm going to download everything on this thread and start over :)

I'm using JDownloader a lot more these days. Works brilliantly with automating Megaupload downloads and a whole load more free file hosting services.

So, HAS this installer been updated?? I downloaded it, installed it and also downloaded the updates since it's release. It has Launcher 5.5e in it and the executables look the same as the updates, V1.03.01 in the 'Product Version' box under properties (Win)
Also the MediaVP's seem the same... Same file sizes and the updated ones show modified date of 9th August where as the ones in this pack show 12 August.
Game loads without incident.
If some one can confirm whether this package is up to date (Obviously, save for the new 3.6.12 RC2) it would be helpful.

The online installer is up-to-date with the latest stable (as in, feature complete and released as finished) versions of everything it can install (The Blue Planet Director's Cut not included, unfortunately).

on problems at all, played on 1920 x 1080 resolution
In Derelict the game once froze mid-mission, but the next time was error-free

i don't know of one, but there is a pretty much comprehensive list of campaigns with their direct download links here (http://www.hard-light.net/forums/index.php?topic=70582.0)
you're also far more likely to get a working version from there than this REALLY old pack.
