Title: Launching from tubes

How can i launch my (or other) viper from the theseus tube in the editor? i can only start docked in the bays

We have a tutorial on how to do tube launches in the works. Until then, you'll have to extract one of the Diaspora missions and figure it out for yourself if you want to see how. Unfortunately it's quite a complicated task to make a tube launch.

I'd suggest adding them once you've done everything else first.

ok i'll wait your tutorial! And how about making/downloading additional backgrounds? (like an atmospheric one?)

Additional backgrounds done just for third party mission builders aren't going to happen, and for a good reason - it takes a lot of work to make a good skybox, and the art department is better used working on things needed for the next release. What is going to happen, however, is we'll have additional new skyboxes ("backgrounds") for new releases, since you really need new locations if you want to have some variety in storytelling.

That thread is all about making the images you need for skyboxes. :) I'm not sure how many are available for download though.

You can find several good skyboxes in many recent mods, mainly War in Heaven.

And here I was thinking that a sun or two, several planets and a nebular would make a decent backround...silly me^^

But i am not sure how tu use it: i've added the skybox and the files in the map folder into the same folders in Diaspora's.
I can select thei "generic-seamless-box.pof" into the background editor's skybox panel while using FRED but nothing happens.
Any ideas?

Did you move the maps as well as the pof? Where did you move them to?

Also, you might not see a change in the skybox until reloading (or saving) the mission.

Yes I'm pretty sure you have to reload the mission in FRED to actually see the skybox, but it's there nonetheless.

well i moved the .pof file to the model folder and the jpg texture's files to the map folder, both inside Diaspora/Data

hmm i looked at the tutorial mission 1.  I think u have to place the Viper into a lunch tube. Is this corect?
