I think the Aquitaine is supposed to have gone through the node in the previous mission while you were busy protecting the Bastion.

Its probably going through repairs or probably crushing any leftover NTF/Shivan forces still present.

It got destroyed in the supernova, and the "crew of the Aquitaine" that Petrarch was addressing happened to be the 20+ crewmen that had gotten away in the one escape pod. :D

No, seriously, I think it was in Vega or Eps. Peg. during the whole thing. Otherwise it would have been kicking Shivan *** near the Vega node.

I think it was probably in Vega, since the Epsilon Pegausi node was collapsed very soon after the GTVA decided to abandon Capella to the Shivans.

Of course, I also think the Bastion was deployed from inside Capella, as crazy as that sounds. There isn't much sense in the Red Alert to the other node otherwise.

Which makes sense, considering how the jump node said "Epsilon Pegasi" and not "Capella" in the CotTII.

Probably in Capella/Vega, since Petrarch was giving you briefings and such.

It was probably in Vega when Capella actually went nova, standing by to take care of any cruisers/fighters that made it through the node.

It was hiding, it being the useless lump of crap it is. :doubt:

Little nick pick here. Bastion was in the 4th Fleet in Vega......;)

It says something like that.

well then why is 3rd fleet headquarters in capella?

It's a plot hole.  If you question it too much something bad is gonna happen.

Er... no, in the first command briefing, Loukakis says 4th fleet is in Vega, not 3rd.

4th fleet = Vega, 3rd fleet = Capella. Or at least that was the case before Capella went kablooie.

I always kinda figured the Aquitaine and the (few) survivors of the 3rd fleet made it to Vega. What I'm wondering is just where the 3rd fleet relocated to after '67, since having two fleets based in the same system is redundant.

3rd Fleet was probably disbanded and it's ships sent to other fleets.

Aquitane didn't replace the Bastion. Just that the squadron was based on board the Bastion during the Great War - it moved to the Aquitane later, whether ages ago, during a great fleet restructuring, or recently, when the Bastion was decommissioned.

yeah im sure they shuffled squadrons around every so often

Also, I noticed another typo. In the first command briefing before the training mission, it says "luitenent Loukakus" but in the command briefing after the 3 training missions, it says, "captain Loukakus". So which is it? One of them must be a typo.

At the rate they lose people, the promotion rate should be through the roof. How else do you explain going from a noob fighter pilot to the head of an elite squadron in a month?

Loukakis's Diary

7:00 am - New Pilot came aboard today, showed him the ropes in the training sim.

8:00 am - Lt. Commander Smash died in a meat grinder accident. I got promoted!

9:00 am - Commander White quit, mumbled something about wishing us a supernova. I'm a Commander now!

10:00 am - Okay, so the Captain seems to have vanished. I will now call myself Captain Loukakis!

There perfect sense. Some people just advance faster than others.

The fleet units from Capella were probably used as replacements for all the ships lost in the other fleets.

Fascinating Reci Fact #324
Out of about 5 different storylines I wrote, every one involved the Aquitane getting waxed during it's last tour of duty before decomissioning.  Including during the decom' ceremony itself.

Sometime I'd like to get a look at those storylines...

I think Alpha 1 is just that good. I mean, if you think about it, Alpha 1's kill score by the end of the campaign is greater then that of many of the great aces of history.

Why compare WW2 air combat and space combat in 24th century?

Petrarch: (to himself) Just this last speech... There's not enough time for the sun to go supernova, not a single Shivan destroyer in sight, no renegade Vasudans, no malfunctioning meson Bomb...I think we're gonna make it this time.
Ensign: (points) ****, sir! Uh...Cylons!
(Two Cylon fighters emerge from subspace and fire off nukes)
Petrarch: Damn.

The Aquitane is damaged in the nebula remember, when it jumps to GD it then heads straight for capella and once there heads straight for vega, do you not remember this? it was heavily damaged i nthe nebula and in the mission they say the aquitane needs to be covered in its retreat and then the debrief says she will be heading to vega for repairs, so just before the supernova mission it jumps to vega but leaves its pilots behind to cover the transports/cruisers etc

It left at least its elite pilots behind to help. According to the Subspace tech entry, fighter-jump-drives are prohibitively expensive -- not all GTVA fighters have drives, damnit!! -- which means the Aquitaine likely hauled most of its fighters back to Vega with it.

Say, I wonder what would happen if someone made a campaign where the player and his squadron (and maybe a couple small capital ships) have to carry out guerrilla attacks in a hostile-held system because their fighters have no jump drives and no one can extract them. Twould be interesting, especially if you had to team up with pirates or rebels that you were fighting earlier in the campaign. (I'm not talking ITDOH level, just... what if a small unit got cut off in Regulus, during Warzone, or something?)

Don't look at me, I've already got 2 projects going here. :nervous:

I released all the Reci storylines when we shut down and publicised the internal, y'know.

" when an orange or apple comes into view this should be easy to kill, just point and shoot with a Subach HL-7 thats simple enough. however, if you come across a kamikaze watermelon i suggest you get all of your wingmates to attack it because its just so powerful, one of these buggars crashed the aquitane's decomission ceremony and destroyed it...Petrach and a few other escaped in a pod but were covered in watermelon juice....it was horrible:eek2: :shaking: "

Pilot: WWWAAAAUUUUGGGGGHHHH!
