Title: New Unamed FSport mission
Post by: Titan on September 11, 2007, 04:24:36 pm
Its a rough draft, i only have the first half of the events and such done, but i wanted to get a thread started for it. If anyone wonders,
Spoiler:
the rest deteriorates into a slugfest with the 2 fenrises against the aten and SOMETHING else....
Spoiler:

anyways, it takes place in the heat of the TVwar, it starts (supposedly) as a simple depot raid, but both sides eventually feed a large amount of ships into a fight that cultimates into one of the most deadly dogfights of the TV war.

also, i play on EASY, so sorry if its to hard. if you have any ideas for a name, plz send them to me. if you want to know before you play it, you fly an angel fighter (wings x3 fighters x4) backed up, initially, by a fenris cruiser, the GTC Naxius. btw, i like putting the lil GTC thingies on the ships. dunno why, but i do. opposition, in terms of fighters, is mainly Anubys, does anyone want me to add something else?

Ok, I played the mission.

1) Please add a skybox. It's easy, just write "starfield.pof" in the proper field(background option); ;)

2) The beginning is a bit messy. Try to increase the distance between Terrans and Vasudans; :)

3) Add a briefing and a basic debriefing(AWOL included), it is difficult to judge your mission with only a few plot informations(middle T-V war); ;)

4) As for the Vasudans, try to use Seths and Horus fighters, too; :)

okee-doke. im at school, so i cant edit it now, but i knew the critiscisms bout the briefing and backround were coming.  :)

Btw, i have the vassies set up to only have a single VLL-9, no missles. should i do the same for the horuss and the seths? also, should i give the player a choice between the angel and apollo?

gtg to class now, edit the rest in later

Depends on the plot. If the mission is supposed to be a scramble one, there shouldn't be choices. And the plot also influences the weaponry(short on supplies = poor weaponry, a lot of supplies = fearsome weaponry). :)

One suggestion based on what you wrote in your first post:

Playtest on Medium. That is the difficulty level on which your mission should be well balanced. If it's too hard on Hard, then the player will simply lower the difficulty level. That's what hard means anyway, so the player only gets what he chose. Same goes for Easy, just the other way around.

I used to playtest a lot on Easy, too (mostly to see if some parts of the mission work as they are supposed to), and when I changed to Medium, I usually died or lost the mission in a blink of an eye.

I don't know the mission itself, and considering that my machine is at the moment incapable of running anything with 3D graphics, I will probably not know it for a while.

Depends. There are many campaigns supposed to be played only at certain level of difficulties. Making a single mission playable at hard and insane means wasting time with balancing events and arrival clue, plus variables and stuff like that.

:wtf:

You're corageous!

Well, people acting like noobs are usually the ones who deserve titles. So that other people can be amused when they find out what the titles refer to.

But life is cruel. You want a title, I want avatars (with reasonable limitations, such as 100x100 pixels at max).

Wow. You realize that "getting bored" and stopping work on a mission will mean that you will never finish anything and contribute to this community, right?

That is quite enough, Cobra.  I specifically warned you about posts like these.  Enjoy your week off.
