Just a thought, but for people with lower spec cards, maybe these extensions could be added to the Launcher?
Also, maybe you could add this to Ships.tbl as well, I've seen a few Mods with texture instensive ships that go very Juddery, even on a 1.7 (well, 1.46) with a GeForce 4 MX440? Once it starts multipass rendering about 15 textures ;) Iy may be useful to be able to turn off Shine maps in particular for specific Hardware heavy ships?

Flipside :D

Edit : On second thoughts, forget -noglow, that never caused a problem :)

turn your lighting settings down

Maybe we should add something to the options menu for disabling glowmaps and reflectiveness (or maybe five levels of detail so you can still have glowmaps and reflective stuff, it just isn't very bright)
