Anyway to stop lag spikes and lag out of game servers?

Its been two years since I have moved and it has become apparent broadband won't be making it to my new house in the next decade. So, I have tried to get back into online gaming on dial up. Everytime I get on a server my ping will be in the 200s. I can live with that. But after 10 to 15 minutes I lag out of control and get disconnected from the server. Is there anything I can do to stop it from spiking like this? I have seen other dial up users on some servers and they don't have this issue.

You could try a better Dial-Up service...

Hell, I don't know.  It's been years since I've even seen a dial-up connection.
