So it sounds like developer Volition is on track to once again out-GTA GTA with a design more focused on the player's experience than the game writer's story. I've been revisting the original Saints Row recently, and although it's tough to stomach the graphics and the driving physics, the gameplay is still there in spades. Volition did a tremendous job building Stillwater a wide-open playground full of things to do. As much as I loved GTAIV, it's a shame Rockstar didn't seem to learn anything from this approach in Saints Row.
Saints Row 2 eh? i barely even knew about Saints Row 1.... So, maybe after they're done this they can get on to making something more suited? like a...flight sim...in space?

I AM TIRED OF THESE MOTHER****ING SHIVANS IN THIS MOTHER****ING CITY!!!!!!
Being serious, I might be interested, and if :v: makes it, it should be good quality.
I always liked GTA, never played Saint's Row, but if it's anything the same, I'll try it.
-
I always read 'GTA' as Galactic Terran Alliance, instead of Grand Theft Auto.
Thanks for getting my hopes up. :(
-
it got decent reviews...hrm...might have to go to EB and pick up a copy...
-
That reminds me, I have to get a new copy of BattleToads, mine bit the dust.
-
Oh, Volition. How far you've fallen.
-
You never know. They might hid Shivans in there.
-
I heard there was a Descent easter egg in Saints Row one...
-
so in part 2 of this installment, our beloved friends at :v: seem to be working on yet another game...this time one alot of us have actually heard of before....

Destructo-scenery specialists Volition have been talking about their new game, the third Red Faction title, including an explanation of their reasons for pulling the camera into third-person. Apparently it makes seeing all that destruction a little more satisfying. What we know so far is that it’s going to be an “open-world shooter” set on Mars, so there’s a little less linearity to your smashing of glass, shattering of concrete, and other Martian geo-mod guerrilla behaviour.
There's video if you follow the link. thoughts?
looks like Gears of War with GEOMOD!
-
That sounds interesting, assuming it's coming for the PC. I've wanted to see a modern implementation of geomod for a while now, which never really took off back then.

Ditto. I liked Red Faction only because of Geo Mod. Even then it was still somewhat restricted. Can't wait to see this new incarnation.

HAHA! That made me chuckle.
-
I wonder why they don't post here. They continue to create games and, consequently, they should be able to browse the Internet...I wonder if they completely forgot about FS :wtf:
-
For the same reason you don't see developers posting in other game centric forums.
-
They used to be on the VBB but then the community got annoying, so they went away.
-
Is it possible to contact them and ask for FS3 plans, the Ancients and whatsoever?!?
-
http://www.volition-inc.com/Contact/ ?!?!?1
-
Uh will that work?
-
Chances are, if it's on their site.
-
I wonder why they don't post here.

Dave B. used to post here on a semi-regular basis. I seem to recall another Volition employee being driven off of the HLP forums by some remarkably immature behavior, but I can't find the specific thread now.
-
too bad. i bet those guys would be a real help in coding and stuff
-
I don't think they'd have the time. They have a job, you know ;)
-
just advice and stuff though - after all they wrote the thing
-
its been around 4 years since daveb has been here, i wonder if he would be impressed by the current state of the engine, more so than he was last time.
