Not sure if you folks might be interested or not...but I had a brief e-mail conversation with the guy that did the XWA WC stuff...  He might be interested in helping here, and I think WC is a better fit here as you actually can do afterburners...  I can give you his e-mail to see if you can tease him over - if you are interested.

dreddnott is his nick...  yes, he is the same guy that did stuff for XWA.  in his e-mail to me he suggested he might be able to help by sending you the .opts (files used by XWA).  i think he might be willing to do more as well.  i know the SW projects is converting the .opts from Darksabre to use, so this may well work for you too...  he mentioned needing a copy of FS2, I can help with that if you talk him into helping.

it is just he is working on the mod again and I doubt that he would have time for another project...

as for model conversion: models we are using are coming from Steele, who converted several very cool models to XWA format

i figured the idea would be to convince him to drop the XWA goal and join in the fs2 project - fs2 has a much greater possibility of surviving and expanding than XWA - plus you can not really do afterburners correctly in XWA...  many reasons....

so those Steele converted models TO XWA format?  from FS2???  confused, but whetever actually happened, I think drednott would probably at least be willing to have his models converted to fs2, if he has some you do not...  the big point i made is that i think he would be willing to do more.

Ok watched that lame excuse for a WC movie once again (hey ngel is hot!), and it occurred to me. SKIPPER MISSILE!

  Here's a cheap way to do it. Take a pof for the missile. Call it Skipper Missile Skip 1.  Make it head for a target and then warp out in 20 seconds. (no ani), make a NEW one Skipper Missile Skip 2, appear right in front of where the other one warps out (just a head of it) so it warps in facing where the otehr warped out, then it heads for target again. repeat and rinse until desired result is achieved. Last skip (make say about 10) hits the target. Playe or wingmen have only 9 chances to run down the elusive and deadly skipper missile before a carrier goes bye bye...
