Do you have anything available to be selected in the Audio -> Sound Device drop-down box?

Re: Cannot find entrypoint procedure alSource3i in DLL OpenAl32.dll
nope...it's blank
I feel you know what's going on :)

On my windows 7 pc it seems to work. Don't recall any of this to have happened there.
Now I tried to install it on my old XP-pc, and I get weird errors.

Was thinking that the download was comprimised. On more then one place.
So I downloaded from mirrors and from torrent. They seem to be the same size.
But I have no way of verifying that the downloads might be comprimised nontheless by hacker pranksters..

So the next logical thing for me is to blaim my pc now.. lol..

It looks like OpenAL isn't installed properly - but the Diaspora installer is supposed to install it

Maybe try downloading and installing OpenAL again - using this link: http://scp.indiegames.us/builds/oalinst.zip

Re: Cannot find entrypoint procedure alSource3i in DLL OpenAl32.dll
I did the zip- thing.
The program said there was already another instance of the program running.
And that I needed to reboot.
Rebooted.
All the above stuff still apply. All the same errors.

Re: Cannot find entrypoint procedure alSource3i in DLL OpenAl32.dll
umm.... can you have a look at "control panel" -> "add/remove programs" (I *think* that's what it's called in WinXP) and see if you have any versions of OpenAL installed? If you do, try un-installing them, then reboot and try to run the installer in the zip file again?

Re: Cannot find entrypoint procedure alSource3i in DLL OpenAl32.dll
Sorry, I'm out of ideas.  I think the problem is that the Launcher (and maybe the Diaspora executable) can't find OpenAL but I'm not sure how to fix it if re-installing isn't working :(

Re: Cannot find entrypoint procedure alSource3i in DLL OpenAl32.dll
Try uninstalling OpenAL and installing it as administrator?

What sound card/chip do you have?

Does that sound card have some specific OpenAL implementation?

Re: Cannot find entrypoint procedure alSource3i in DLL OpenAl32.dll
I have a ASRock N68C-S UCC with NVIDIA GeForce 7025.
No idea about sound card. I think the motherbord has that integrated.
And no idea about any special implementations for sound. I can play WoW, SWTOR and about every other game that exists without problems. I can listen to music on media players and the internet. Youtube works. The lot.

This game is the only thing that doens't work.
OpenAL seems to be installed ok, it just doesn't work.
I even closed Scotty Winpatrol and Avast to see if they might have shielded stuff.

Cannot install it as adm. I do nog get that option. I am the only one on this pc, and there is no seperate Adm login option at all. As far as I know I am the Adm. Could be an Xp-thing..:P

Re: Cannot find entrypoint procedure alSource3i in DLL OpenAl32.dll
I could try and make an image of the working version on my windows 7-pc, and copy-paste that one to this pc.
But it sounds like something I do not want to try tonight. It's late..

Re: Cannot find entrypoint procedure alSource3i in DLL OpenAl32.dll
Right...

Could you, uh, do a search for nvopenal.dll on your computer? I remember very, very vaguely hearing that in some cases, nvidia's openal implementation is overriding the proper OpenAL installation in which case FSO will try to use wrong kind of OpenAL - or something. I don't exactly remember what it was about, and I don't know if this is actually what is wrong with your game... just searching for a direction for now. This was years and years and years ago and I don't know if your computer's generation's nForce drivers included nvidia openAL files... :nervous:

If you do find something like that, refrain from any drastic action, I'm about to go to bed and won't be available again until I regain consciousness.

(I don't know if this has anything to do with the actual problem since all the error popups specifically mention openal32.dll rather than anything else...)

It... could also may be wxLauncher specific problem, but I know nearly nothing of that. Might be worth checking if regular FS2 Open can be initialized with Launcher.exe instead?

Re: Cannot find entrypoint procedure alSource3i in DLL OpenAl32.dll
Is it good, or bad if I found it?
I found it.
nvopenal.dll
It's in C:\WINDOWS\system32

And starting the game with wxlauncher.exe instead of the Dia shortcut didn't help.
