Before we get to all the music, please let me tell you a little story about the circumstances of my participation and work for Blue Planet: War in Heaven.

More than a year has past since I joined the team of the Blue Planet developers and was given the chance to show my musical ambitions to more people than just me. In late 2010 I played BP: Age of Aquarius and was sheerly impressed by the mod campaign, so I talked to Darius, The E and General Battuta about the mod and we got to the music stuff used in this mod. They revealed to me that mostly tracks by well known composers are used and I got a bit suspicious about this little detail, because I'm German and in this country unauthorized use of music or other artwork is punishable as a crime. There is no fair use rule like in the US and maybe other countries, so I asked them if it's wise to do it this way, because I was worried that this beautiful mod could just vanish anytime, because of the - as it's called here - illegal use of artworks by others.

A short time later I was told that a musical artist would come in handy, so the mod doesn't just consist of others work in regards to the music, but also offers an individual soundtrack. I yet still was new to the entire musical creation scene, but I volunteered to help wherever I could and at the very same day I was incorporated I released my first track to the team, because it was urgent to replace a track in the Age of Aquarius mod, which you will find alongside others as a download on this thread. This seemed to have impressed the group and I was asked to do more which often lead to the fact that I sat hours and hours every day in front of my computer to create multiple tracks at once. This got me the nice title "Fastest composer in the west" as I sometimes released two or more tracks at the same day.

But there also has been a downside in my life in early 2012. In january last year I had a terrible accident at work which nearly got me killed. A forklift crashed into me and broke me some ribs and one of them spiked into my spleen. I was brought into hospital and got opened up. Then I stayed for about three weeks in the hospital to recover. In this time, and many months thereafter I neither couldn't work for my apprenticeship nor had I the chance to compose any new tracks and I was truly thinking of giving it all up, but I'm a man who loves music. I'm not just listening to it, I absorb it with every fibre of my being so to speak. I can barely express how much it means to me, so you will have to believe me. And my own music means even more to me. Some would say that I can't stand my own music, because I need to listen to it over and over again. Then I'd say that this is true, but only the listening part is, because I love my music. It gets better to me the more often I listen to it. So in july I started again to create new tracks and as it seemed I didn't lose my skill.

One more important thing I want to express is the fact that I'm never going to charge anything for my music. In my opinion music needs to be free for all. As mentioned above I love music and I want everyone to have complete access to it without any payment, so I can make as many people happy as possible. If you, however, feel the urge to pay something for what I've done or anyone else, please make a donation for this board. That helps all of us to keep up the good work and maybe even to enhance it.

Thanks for all your hard work Belisarius, I've always been of a mind that music can be as important an aspect (if not more so) as graphics or writing for setting the emotional tone of the scene/mission, and I've always been impressed by the BP music selection. There's a reason I've had a Blue Planet playlist on my phone for the past 2 years that sees constant use.

Quite a nice selection of hard-hitting and calming tracks. Carbonised and Momentum are among my favs. :)

The last time I played any Zelda game, was about 15 years ago when the SNES was the state of the art console. So no, any accidental resemblance is erm... accidental. Haven't heard that tune before.

 I must admit, the first tracks you made, Belisarius, did not impress me much (this was about the Act 1&2 re-release.) They were good but nothing mind blowing to me...
 Now, after playing Act 3, I must say, you are fantastic.
 The compositions felt very fitting and blew me away when I first heard them in context.
 Please, keep up your fantastic work!

If I had enough bloody space I would put this on my personal media device, but I don't have that space, as such it will sit on my hard drive, and I will listen to it. I would just like to say that you sir are amazing and I hope you can continue to do what you love.

BlairMdITC TT Medium. I also used this font when I made the original Blue Planet banner (http://www.hard-light.net/wiki/index.php/File:BP-Banner.png) on the Wiki, and when I added text onto the current version.

Are there some tracks missing from this? I listened to the whole soundtrack and didn't hear the songs from the Dreamscape missions (which I have stuck in my head for some reason).

Are there download links for the originals? Youtube transcodes and compresses the crap out of audio. All I hear is aliasing and artifacts.

I'm using Magix Music Maker mostly, but also Fruity Loops Studio 10. Dunno what Darius uses.

Belisarius,

I haven't had a chance to play WiH yet, having just finished AoA recently, but I downloaded this OST. Excellent work! :yes:
Several of these are now on my "tracks to do homework to" playlist (which has pretty high quality requirements, believe it or not  :P )
I'm impressed that you were able to make these without a big company/band/financial whatever backing you up (then again, it goes well with HLP, which basically makes whole new games for free  :)

Looking forward to hearing these in battle soon!

If you want them, you could always just extract the tunes from the VP files themselves. Open the bp-audio.vp with a VP tool of your choice and pull them out. If you need a tool, look up QuickVP, it's easy and simple to use

No. It is a piano piece. I don't know if it's in the Deus Ex Soundtrack.

Apologies if this is the wrong place to ask (and for bumping an old thread), but this question has been eating at me ever since I first played WIH.  Can anyone ID the track used during the first few minutes of The Plunder, when you're disabling the Agincourt?  I've looked everywhere for the track with zero luck, and being unable to identify such an awesome guitar track has been killing me.

PS:  This soundtrack blows me away.  A few of them remind me of the music from the old Ace Combat games, which is definitely a compliment.  AC5 is one of my favorite games of all time, thanks in no small part to its soundtrack.

A while back there was a music overhaul to replace the copyrighted music with licensed or royalty-free replacements. Didn't end up working too well as some of the most popular tracks just weren't able to be replaced, so it was abandoned halfway through. About half the tracks managed to get replaced.

Incredible playlist!

My favorite, by far, is Dreaming Warrior. It's now the theme song of my .tbl edits and FREDing.

The musical changes to Blue Planet have been almost ubiquitously spectacular since I last played. The only two exceptions were Forced Entry (AoA) and the mission with Rheza Station in WiH; I preferred the older versions.

By contrast though, the music in Her Finest Hour went from good to legendarily awesome, and made the mission cross the critical threshold from irritating & hectic to engaging & challenging. I think the music might have even helped me focus more clearly and blow things up better.

Wow at that Deus Ex piano track.  Human Revolution is one of my favorite games, but somehow I never made the connection with that track in Blue Planet.  It's a beautiful piece.

The music in BP was spectacular, and I extracted all of it. I'm wondering, though, what the 2ndrvict, COSAmb, COSBattle1 and 2, etc. are from. I think those were in AoA. Really awesome for a final battle.

Also a huge fan of Nasheed and Nasheed2, Gravitation by Two Steps from Hell, and DEM (Deus Ex Machina... who made that one?). I haven't even really given the others a listen outside of the game yet so I am sure more will be growing on me pretty soon.

Thanks for your kind words. I went through cancer treatment and recovery the last 2 years, so my medical record keeps stacking up unfortunately, but I'm still alive and kicking again. And I'm really thinking of releasing more. I can't promise anything though.
