Trying to get Silent Threat reborn 1.4 to work

i own the GoG release of freespace 2.  file version 2.0.0.8
installed on my secondary SSD at
D:\GOG Games\Freespace 2

downloaded and ran freespace open installer v2.3.0
Freespace Port ran just fine and i just finished the campaign and had installed 2014 mediavps, and 3.6.12 mediavps installed, along with freespace open 3.8.0 Win64 Avx.   

initially using wxLauncher i tried running FSPort 2014, and then also FSPort media vps_3612, but it came up with 60-70 errors.  inflight, i wasn't able to see any ships.  so i tried FSPort v3.5, and it came up with no errors and ran perfectly.

so i now just installed silent threat reborn along with the voice pack and cutscene, and under wxLauncher it shows up as Silent Thread: reborn v1.4 - MediaVPs 2014.  activated and ran the game. came up with around 70 errors.  changed campaign to silent threat reborn, entered 1st mission debriefing, cutscene ran fine, then after that i'd get an error msg

if i click exit, then i exit out the game, if i hit debug, i am able to go back into the game and im in my 1st pre-mission briefing overview

but none of the buttons are clickable, and i am stuck at that screen.

any assistance would be appreciated.
