Well, how many people here play it/have played it? There is currently a war being waged between two mods, Anni and Shifter. Anni is winning. Anni is also horribly unbalanced, has a load of idiots, and a one hit kill sniper rifle. My point is, it's lame.
So, I ask, how many people would be willing to join us on TopGuns Berserkers, der shifter server me and mad bomber play on?
For those of you who don't know what tribes is, it's basicly an FPS where you throw mass amounts of ordanace at each other whilst in the air. Jetpacks ftw.
I highly recommend you download it and try it out. You need to patch it to 1.11 though.

Tribes? Ahhh, that takes me back. I remember playing in the Neverwinter VII RPG mod...good times...good times.
I kicked ass with my sniper rifle.

Let me know if you do resolve this issue as my brother and i both run Vista 32bit. Should be fun doing a one V one base assault in unmanned thundersword bombers. :lol:

They're quite different (I prefer 2), but at least Tribes is still alive.*
*Statement based on the last time (approx. 1.4 years ago) that I could remember my password for Tribes 2.

Any day, 7-12 eastern time. We need people on TopGuns Berserkers server. You won't actually be killing people in the other mod, because it's disgusting to play. but i'm trying to repopulate shifter and convert as many people as possible.
Ah, it was great in the good old days... before skiing was discovered and things were actually balanced.
Skiing is still very much around.

I managed to play Tribes fairly well when I was in |N|, several years back. I was on dialup at the time. So yeah, it should be possible, particularly if you lead the shots a little to compensate for lag.
By the way, we play the Shifter mod, as that seems to be the most well-balanced of the mods out there.

IIRC they gave out Tribes 2 CD keys for a limited time period as a promo for Tribes: Vengance, but they stopped a while ago.

They were releasing keys for a Fileplanet promotion a few years back, which is how I got my copy.

You gotta unzip it to the Tribes directory, then run the exec that you unzipped. Only works for tribes 1.11 tho.

The game has a decent rating under wine so I might just install and have a bash, I haven't played before but the idea of the scout seems interesting. Seems that downloads.com isn't a decent source (and you can't use wget -_-), I used ftp://ftp.sierra.com/pub/sierra/tribes/other/tribes_fullgame.exe
