EDIT: Split into two requests:
I. Perhaps edit the
release thread to include links to mjn's High-Res CBANIMs found here:
http://www.hard-light.net/forums/index.php?topic=76393.0
II. Re: Zacam's comment on the GOG MVEs: GOG stores stuff, including the .MVEs, in \data2 and \data3 in addition to \data for whatever reason; perhaps put this info into the install tutorials.
Also, for whatever reason, GOG saw fit to put an exact duplicate (I verified the hash) of the warble_fs2.vp in the FS2 root directory in \data2 as well as another exact duplicate in \data3
Additionally, there is an exact duplicate of root\tango1_fs2.vp in \data2, as well as an extra, unecessary file, tangoA_fs2.vp
Also, there are exact duplicates of root files tango2_fs2.vp and tango3_fs2.vp in \data3
As Yarn explained to me below, \data2 and \data3 are basically the contents of Disk2 and Disk3 which GOG retail has been modified to search when it wants Disk 2 or Disk 3
tangoA_fs2.vp and tangoB_fs2.vp are unecessary, and we don't know what their purpose is, although they do contain one file each. tangoA contains game_dat2.set, and tangoB contains game_dat1.set
\data2:
- colossus.mve
- intro.mve
- mono1.mve
- duplicate of root\tango1_fs2.vp
- tangoA_fs2.vp
- duplicate of root\warble_fs2.vp
\data3:
- bastion.mve
- endpart1.mve
- endprt2a.mve
- endprt2b.mve
- mono2.mve
- mono3.mve
- mono4.mve
- dupicate of root\tango2_fs2.vp
- duplicate of root\tango3_fs2.vp
- tangoB_fs2.vp
- duplicate of root\warble_fs2.vp
Is the \data2 and \data3 perhaps what was originally on the FS2 retail disks 2 and 3?
Anyways, I just dumped the contents of \data2 and \data3 into \data, except for warble_fs2.vp
EDIT: I should have dumped everything to the FS2 root directory, except the .mve files, which go in fs2root\data\movies, and tangoA_fs2.vp and tangoB_fs2.vp, which are extraneous files.EDIT: Apparently, duplicates of tango1_fs2, tango2_fs2, and tango3_fs2, as well another dup of warble_fs2 are in the FS2 root directory.
What's up with the duplicate files, GOG????
Anyways, I guess the only tangos that aren't present in root or \data are tangoA_fs2 and tangoB_fs2 -- of course, your .mves won't play unless they are in \data\movies
EDIT2: Can someone do a vanilla FS2 install from CD or .ISOs of the Retail CDs, patch it to 1.2, run the following command, and post it?
tree /f /a c:\games\freespace2>%userprofile%\desktop\fs2dirs.txt
