Title: Hercules Mk 2 art piece?
Post by: Unknown Target on April 25, 2007, 09:51:07 pm
Does anyone remember/have/know who did that really kickass digital picture of a Herc Mk 2 flying over a planet?

EDIT: YES! After trawling through VWatch news posts for almost an hour, I've found it, dated January 03, 2001! Man, that sure does bring back memories. Here it is!

Haha, right after that, dated January 7, 2001:

You people actually anticipated Freelancer? Damn. :P

That is a pretty damn good piece of art though. Who made it?

I know.

This picture was painted by a Japanese SF fan, "Ryu-Act".

Here his site, however, written in Japanese language only.
http://www3.osk.3web.ne.jp/~yonehara/index.htm (http://www3.osk.3web.ne.jp/~yonehara/index.htm)

His "CG Gallery" has some beautiful mechanics from various games includes FS2.

He made a great FS2 fan book, and now it is downloadable free PDF file.
Watch beautiful Ares in his book!

Please send a message of praise to him, even in English.
With pressing button "web拍手ボタン" placed over the counter at left side of the page.
I respect him.

Thats a pretty sweet pic, although if you look close enough you can see the pilot and I always figured the cockpit was "tighter" around the pilot. Nice Job though!

EDIT:  Please ignore all sexual connotations about the cockpit being tight

Well Beyond the Red Line and the Wing Commander Saga were released. You can find the former on game-warden.com/bsg, and the latter here on HLP :). As you can see, the Procyon Insurgency was just released as well...hmm...SCP 3.6.9 was also released, and3.6.10 is being released in a few months IIRC. :)

Snail:
Hello, I'm studying HTL models and cockpit-ed models.
Very slow proceeding(^_^;).

Nico:
That plane came from the game "Silpheed".
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Silpheed:_The_Lost_Planet (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Silpheed:_The_Lost_Planet)

U.S. publisher "Working Designs" is gone, so I can not show webpages written details in English.

Mmh, are you sure? I know Silpheed, that ship looks very similar indeed, but imho it's still a different one. I may be mistaken, of course, but there's several details that are different, that's why I was wondering.

Nico,
The fighter is surely "SA-77 Silpheed" from the game "Silpheed: The Lost Planet".
SA-77 can equip many different weapons, so its external detail may vary.

I found some interesting pics of Silpheed.
This is Japanese independent modeller's pages.

Mmh well, yeah. Hey Kara :)
Amano: ok, I'll trust your word on it ;)
Anyway I love that ship, and I had that websites already, but thanks for the headup anyway. Shame I can't find blueprints of it.

Edit: just checked that BtRL and damnk, that's the BSG mod demo? Dang, gotta install FS2 again... but now there's all that FSU stuff, hope I'll sort that out and have it run fine...

edit2: ah crap, haven't seen season 2 yet, guess I'll wait a bit.

You won't need FS2 to play BtRL (or the Wing Commander and B5 mods) as the new big thing is to make stand alone releases for the total conversions :)

awwww.
Well it's already installed anyway. I'm in the middle of a goddamn essay right now, so can't test if it's working (would take longer than just sporadically check forums :p), but it should.
