I was surprised not to see a thread about this, so making it now.
I playing the orginal and sequel quite a lot back in the day, so I'm quite excited for this one! There seems to be a lot of controversy about how much content is in the game as well as the lack of a single player. I'm adopting more of a wait and see approach because a lot of the information reddit is throwing around is not the most correct.

The [yt] tag needs just the video ID, not a complete URL.
I actually tried reinstalling the original Battlefront. It supposedly works on Win7 64-bit, but I can't get it to even start. :(

Hoping for fleet engagement and boarding actions.

Unfortunately, one of things we do know is that there won't be space combat

There was a post (by me) in the Star Wars ep VII thread, but I agree that it needs its own thread, yes.
I'm excited. I might even buy this at full price, I'm so excited!
Is the no-single-player thing confirmed, or just rumored?

According to ea's battlefront page, no single player campaign but there will be single player missions that you can do couch co-op or by yourself.
This also comes out the day before my birthday muhahah. Will probably treat myself.

It's strange that they'd do that, since the last... 4 Battlefield games had single player campaigns, and having a [decent] Star Wars single player campaign would make roughly a billion Star Wars fans mess their pants. Also make them buy the game, who might have waited for a good sale.

Maybe they weren't allowed to write new Canon?

Yeah, I was pretty miffed about that at first, but then I saw what they were intending for aerial combat. Whether or not they intend for said aerial combat to play out as it looked in the trailer, it certainly does its job at replacing my desire for space battles somewhat
Though, that reminds me of a trailer waaaaay back where Battlefront was "leaked" and the battle on the planet surface could seamlessly transfer to a battle in space if you fly upwards

The space combat bf2 was more of a novelty than a solid example of good game mechanics. It was already, the boarding was the best part. The rest was only ok.
I would have liked to see them redo that whole idea, but I'm not too saddened by it's loss. Especially because the in atmo combat actually looks decent compared to how it was in bf2.

Maybe someone will mod in space combat / boarding?

On an EA title? Giving modders that much freedom would restrict their ability to sell DLC

Locked up tighter than titanfall.

There was no atmo flight in Battlefront 2, except maybe in the campaign. Got cut in favor of those mediocre space battles.
I have zero problem with them not doing space battles in this version. At least not in the half-assed way it was done in Battlefront 2. This is actually one of those things I think would actually work better as a DLC. The DLCs for BF3 and 4 were pretty big, and I quite liked them.

Oh, Aesaar, remember Kashyyyk in Battlefront 1? The one where you could fly a bomber and bomb the **** out of ground units with ease? *That* was great

I'd take the LAATI reign of terror (in cockpit view view no less) of BF1 to the space catastrophe of BF2 hands down.
