So... why would the GTVA name a corvette after the traitorous leader of the GTI Rebellion?

I can see The E was already reading, hope to read a reply. I never realized Glaive was the who led the old GTI rebellion. Maybe the ship carries that name with a good reason.

Two reasons.

1. We honor traitors for their prior service even today

2. Think of how crappy Terran-Vasudan relations have become post-Capella. Do you think the name could be taken as a political statement?

With that in mind, maybe there should be a Corvette called "McCarthy" in WiH: p2 then lol

He also happened to be an extremely effective leader of the GTI during the Great War and the T-V War. His ultimately failed traitorous behavior does not wholly erase what he accomplished while loyal.

Plus, as the Battman notes, he was a human. Just as we remember Bobby Lee because he was ultimately an American and a very talented officer regardless of his cause, so here.

That would make a lot of sense. McCarthy arguably was forward-looking and was the first to attempt to reconcile with the Vasudans in preparation for the Shivan threat.

Wouldn't the Vasudans be the ones to honor him with a vessel then?

He's probably still a living admiral, so I'm not sure if he can get a ship named after him yet. :P

Maybe FS2's Alpha 1 is
Spoiler:
the guy the former-SOC guys were trying to rescue?

Or maybe that was Snipes?

Spoiler:
That was Al'fadil. Anyway, Alpha 1 may well have been one of the SOC pilots who died in the attempted rescue. I don't know.

Eh? Was that ever stated? If so, when/where? If not, quit making stuff up.

It is stated. In the debrief, I believe.

Or he died in the Capella supernova, a hero.

I assumed such as possible, as I think FS2 had two endings?
