Any one use it and want to join 'The Freespace Team'? If you do, visit the SETI@home website tomorrow (they haven't updated yet)

Might just do that.

I'm intrigued! Tell me more (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/smile.gif)
Are we hunting for Shivans? (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/wink.gif)

SETI@Home is a farce...
anyone ever noticed that the entire thing can continue to run in offline mode... you dont even need to connect to upload your 'analysed' data (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/smile.gif)

Yeah, whoever finds them first gets to borrow a GTF Hercules from Area 51 and go on a killing spree...

Apparently it d/l the data and you analyse it in the background, then upload it. If you don't then that packet gets sent to someone else.

I would join but I already belong to a group...
Anyhow, SETI@home is cool!

your not missing much...
all you see is a pinkish mass of radio data & a white line moving across it (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/smile.gif)

Sounds like excitement (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/wink.gif)
I dunno, I might want to give it a go anyway.

No where at the moment. The site is down for some reason. Should be at this address when it's back online. (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/smile.gif)
http://setiathome.berkeley.edu/ ("http://setiathome.berkeley.edu/")
Go to groups, then the Clubs section, letter 'T' for The Freespace Team.

The site is down now because the entire building that seti is run in, is down. They're doing some construction up there and the contractor accidently cut the fiber cable. In theory, it should be up again tomorrow.

Maybe not...

No... it says some vandals cut the line while looking for copper (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/smile.gif)

And thaey haven't been able to fix it yet cause of bad weather. (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/frown.gif)

Yeah, it sucks. Feels like I'm wasting time when my comp is on.
-
I've had a data unit waiting to be uploaded since Wednesday. Still, according to the site, it should be finished by tonight...
But you know what happened last time they said it would be repaired soon, don't you?
-
It's too bad isn't it? My poor computer is so bored without seti (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/frown.gif)

Good news! Seti is back up. I just sent off and recieved another work unit. The site mentions that it might take 24 to 48 hours before you can make a connection. They have to cap their bandwidth and since a lot more people are trying to send off completed units, they have to refuse some connections.

Those horrible people with horribly fast computers. They overtook me (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/frown.gif)

Hey Jabu, don't worry. You've got more than 600 times more hours than I do so far, and I haven't even submitted one unit yet (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/smile.gif)

Dave is still ahead of me, damn! (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/wink.gif)
It's too bad you can't join several teams at once (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/tongue.gif)
