Title: Shock and Awe.....
Post by: Colonol Dekker on June 05, 2008, 01:48:01 pm
Firstly, i have to say this is one of the "Gem" campaigns that i always wanted to play since i heard about it..

Now the subject in question, first i was in "shock" when i hit the "unread posts" button and saw the "appreciation" thread.
And i'm now currently downloading the demo and i'm waiting to be held in "awe" ..........

Congrats guys, and when did this come out? I have to be honest the big shiny BTRL and TBP kind of hog the limelight and i forgot this was even going on :nervous: <asahmed>

Kudos though

It's a fantastic first release.

Very immersive, and the first few missions will have you feeling very, very naked.

I'm going to be very excited when the Apollos start entering distribution. :p

I thought I had broken something when I couldn't lock on at first. Then I figured out it was a feature. Man that messed me up. I was so glad to get the Mustang Alpha and have targeting again.

Are the doors on the space station supposed to open at the end of the mission for me to fly into?

No... I don't think so. Though I did play this in December so my memory might phail a bit. But I think there was just some hole where you had to land.

No, you just get near them. If you watch other fighters, they either fly through them, or disappear. (can't remember which)

Well, doesn't that fit my description? If you try to land in a hole, you'll definitely get near something.

oh yeah. that'll be nice- having apollos be the awesome high-tech uber fighters... at least for a few missions...

also, can someone please give me ship list for the next chapter.
and if you have time, just a screenshot or two of the vasudan ships.

oh, and why is it that the zods and terrans lack any pre-TV war tech (which lasted 14 years), when they still have a ton of the Great War tech during second shivan incursion (32 years later)

i know (semi-canonicly) that there was no shortage of war during that time...

They had their freighters before the TV war

During times of war, technology progresses quickly. The old is either destroyed or retired in favour of newer, better technologies, so your side can stay on the cutting edge and have an advantage over the other side. The T-V war lasted fourteen years. I would think most of the Mustang Alphas would have been obsoleted by the Apollo and all either destroyed or retired.

However, during the reconstruction period, there was not as much conflict, so it is more economic to refit older craft rather than design new craft which may already be obsoleted by the time a real war comes around. Of course, there are a few new designs to fill gaps and replace things just too old to refit, and to better make use of new technologies.

The Shivans blew up all the old stuff.

I can't think of a better reason.

We were at was with the Sandmonkies for fourteen years. The Shivans a few months? As powerful as the Shivans were i'd expect a whole lot more great war era tech to be about. In retrospect the NTF seem to have it all and i appear to have killed it all during the FS2 camp.
