Training mission one issues (after patch)
I've reinstalled the Windows version of Diaspora and patched but in the first training mission only the right thruster works when you have to align with the drone using thrusters. Tried rebinding both keyboard and joystick controls but only the right thruster works. This problem goes away after completing the task using roll and the right thruster, during the next task where you have to match speed with the drone all thrusters then work.

The next issue is the escort list task, after adding both drones to the escort list the task will not complete.

Done a bit more testing. Mission works fine before patching without any issues. Once the patch is installed it seems the controls are not matching to the binded keys/buttons despite not changing anything. The thruster binds do not respond using the binded input until I reach the use afterburner task to catch the drone. I'm using a Saitek X52 joystick.

Re: Training mission one issues (after patch)
I have almost exactly the same issue.  Slight differences:

The accelerate control doesn't work in the task where I am to close on drone 2, so I couldn't complete that task.

I restarted the program to try again, and this time it came up with an error message during the lateral thrust task, telling me no key was bound to that command.  I selected the option to bind a key, and according to the screen that came up the correct keys were already bound.  I closed that screen and still couldn't thrust anywhere but right.

Re: Training mission one issues (after patch)
sorry to hear that. im going to test tutorial 1 now and see whats going on

Edit:
Fixed mission files attached. Save them in your Diaspora/data/mission folder, load them in the Mission Simulator in the Tech Room and see if they work for you now. Also, it would be nice if you would have a lookout for the training messages and directives. We tested the missions, but you know, sometimes some things slip through.

Important note:
The new default key bindings may not work with pilots created before Patch 1.0.1. As the missions check for the default bindings, those have to be set first. To fix this, either go into Control Options and set the new defaults by clicking the "Defaults"-Button there, or create a new pilot.

Re: Training mission one issues (after patch)
Thanks for your help.

So I tried your Tut-1 mission and the problems didn't happen, but when I got to the escort list section there was a new one.  It asked me to add each drone to my list by pressing "$Alt+P$".  That combination does nothing, but Alt+E does work.  However even after I add the drones the completion of the task does not trigger.

Also I do not see this command on the keybind list in the menus.

I didn't notice any trouble with the training messages.

Re: Training mission one issues (after patch)
Ah, that error is because we've changed Alt-P to be the new control bind for escorts instead of ';' or 'e' (E  being used in the WSAD setup, and using semicolon causes the crashes and errors people were having).

So patch 1.01.2 will fix all of that for new pilots or people who reset their keys to default and then rebind.

Logrus: you can rebind the keys or skip training to continue.

Re: Training mission one issues (after patch)
Hi,

I just installed and am excited to play the tutorial and learn the game.

However, i can't do anything past target the drones in the first tutorial. The instructor assigns me to bank to match the drone. the instructed keys are numpad7 or numpad9. neither of these work. upon viewing the control configuration, it appears that bank left and bank right are bound to "q" and "e," respectively. these do not work, either.

I am using a laptop. would that make a difference in control configuration working properly?

still excited to play, but will have to wait a bit longer, it looks like.

Re: Training mission one issues (after patch)
For now, go into options and rebind the keys. This should be all fixed in a forthcoming patch.

Re: Training mission one issues (after patch)
Well, i installed the game, then seeing there's a patch, immediately installed the patch. So, when it's time to play the tutorial, up to the point where i have to bank, i'm stuck (just like the rest). I've tried rebinding the key to no avail. For ur info, i'm using only keyboard and mouse.

Do i have to uninstall and reinstall the game without the patch or what (only installing the patch before i pay mission 6)? pls advice

Re: Training mission one issues (after patch)
Just deleting the R1.0.1Patch.vp and starting with a new pilot will fix the issues. Don't worry about having deleted the patch either as everything (correct) in it will be in 1.0.2.

Re: Training mission one issues (after patch)
So I just downloaded the game, super excited to play...

...and find that thrusters don't work, in either of the training missions. I even tried remapping them to keyboard keys I know work with other functions.

All other controls seems to work just fine.

Is there a patch I need to DL or something?

There is patch 1.0.4, links are at the top of the main Diaspora forum. Download it and try making a new pilot.
