Title: FS2 occasional "error encountered" problem
Post by: Freespace Damo on July 11, 2007, 04:33:08 am
Hello, i seem to be having a little error just before every cut-scene, its just one of those errors that says "Windows has encountered a problem with (name here) you can send a bug report to Microsoft" errors, it only happens before some cut scenes or at a random loading screen.

I used tureys installer ontop of a Retail FS2 install that wasn't patched to the latest version.

Nothing bad, just a tad bit annoying ;)

Are you running in D3D or OpenGL mode? (Check the video tab of the launcher). You should be running in OpenGL mode as D3D is rather buggy.

OpenGL mode, D3D is really old isn't it?

Are you running the .mve or .ogg movies? (i.e did you download them or get them from off of your CDs?)

Hmmmm. Do you have a certain place in the game that this error shows up or does it seem to show up at random. Cause if you can reproduce the error you should try running the debug build instead and then posting your FS2_Open.log from Freespace2\Data (and any warnings\errors you get)

I get this too.  Seemingly random.  Although it happens more often in some campaigns than in others (some not at all), though IDK if that's just due to the randomness of it.
