Alright, it crashed at the end of loading, but by the windows '...has stopped working...' this time. No output from the game, since I'm pretty sure the windows thing locks it up :\
The log breaks the character limit, so I'll attach it.

If you only have an Intel GPU, you need to start the exe with -no_glsl. If you have switchable graphics, you need to make sure that the FS2_Open executable is started with the better GPU selected.

@praseodym - could you please try adding the following to your fs2_open.ini file?

Language=English

The entry should be in the [Default] section.  If this change doesn't help, could you attach a fs2_open.log from running with the above change?

Can you please create this file (~/.fs2_open/data/debug_filter.cfg) and produce another fs2_open.log with this in place?  This enables additional debugging output from the DEBUG executable.

The strange thing is, that with 3.6.12_INF build the regular mod "mediavps_3612" also crashes. But Ancient Shivan War 2 works...

Error message: remove "spec", "glow", "normal" and "env". Did that and build another log.

The issue is in your mediavps install. Do you have any extra tables in there? Can you reinstall them?

It looks like a mediavps problem, but he's reported that he re-downloaded them and confirmed the md5sums were ok  :confused: :confused: :confused:

I just realised that the log you provided with the ~/.fs2_open/data/debug_filter.cfg file active doesn't look right.  There should be a heap of parse output starting just after all the VPs are listed.  Here's an extract demonstrating what the log should look like:

Could you double check that this file (~/.fs2_open/data/debug_filter.cfg) exists, and is readable by the user you're running FSO as?  And you could confirm that there's a line with "+Parse" in the file?
