Not really. IIRC, Steve-O once stated he based the Lancer on the Saber (it was a long time ago, back when the Mk.1 version was still WIP).

i did base this loosely on the sabre. i liked the wing profile of the sabre and worked into the lancer. Starlancer was fun.

That is a really, really impressive texture job. It actually looks like metal. I don't texture (well) and I still know what a devil metal is to get right.
