FS2's flight deck looks a lot sharper than this. I have FSOpen 3.6.10, and I have all but the MediaVP files and the DVD Hi-Res textures installed.

Yeah, FS1 didn't boast 1024x768 resolution graphics, unlike FS2. And it's probably a huge pain to try and reconstruct the interface into a higher resolution version.
-
Oh, okay then.
-
That's what 640x480 looks like stretched out to 1920x1080. :P Eventually (years out), the front-ends may be reconstructed. FS2'll probably have priority, if it ever happens.

You know, I do have to say that when playing FS1 from GOG, the mainhall never looks as grainy as it does in FS Port...
...Why is this?
-
I'm not sure why the GoG version would be less grainy...
In any case, it's on my to do list... Once I finish up the immense number of projects I have picked up, I plan on rebuilding the main hall. (Actually, I don't think I ever mentioned that to Galemp).
Theoretically, it should be easy at that point because I'll have Terran models rigged and ready to go.

/me bows repeatedly before mjn.mixael and yells, "I'm not worthy! I'm not worthy!"

Probably because when you play FS1 you're playing with 640x480 upscaled to 1920x1080, while FSPort has it scaled from 640x480 to 1024x768 and then scaled AGAIN to 1920x1080.
-
Why does it scale to1920x1080? Half the people hare can't view that resolution.

Because that is presumably the resolution the OP is playing at, based on the resolution of the screenshot in the first post.
-
Yeah, we scaled it to 1024x768, and the engine re-scales it to whatever their screen resolution is.
