Author Topic: FSPort 3.1.1 issues  (Read 3165 times)

Hello, I've noticed a major issue with my download of FSPort.

The later I get in the campaign, the less weaponry I have until finally, nothing is available. It was going fine till about half way through act 2. Does anyone know how to fix this? I really want to finish the campaign.

That is... really weird. Are you using FreeSpace 2 Open? Do you have any other mods installed (e.g. MediaVPs)?

I do have other mods and vps installed and i'm using FSOpen 3.1.11 but I'm currently only using the FSPort mod. I unlock the avenger and Prometheus then the mission immediately after the Prometheus is available i start losing my weapons. It's only happening with the main campaign, Silent Threat and Operation Templar are completely unaffected. I finally lose all weapons on the mission "A Failure to Communicate" and none of my wing-men have weapons either.

 
Ok update, if I immediately call in a support ship it supplies me with an ML-16 and a Prometheus cannon, but that's it, it still doesn't solve the problems with the other missions

It's only happening with the main campaign, Silent Threat and Operation Templar are completely unaffected.
This sounds very suspicious.  Are you switching campaigns before you finish them?  You shouldn't be doing that.

 
Uh, well nobody told me that, either way, I encountered the problem before playing Silent Threat or switching to another campaign so it's really a non-issue.

 
Umm, run a debug build up to the main hall, then exit. Inside FreeSpace2\data\ you should find a file called fs2_open.log. Copy-paste the contents here.

I've actually been doing that since i started using FSOpen and i've had no problems switching half-way; it just carries on from where i left off (I dont think i've played through the main FSPort campaign all the way though, shall have to check soon as i can).

Sorry for slightly OT but felt i worth saying, as it might mean that the switching is not the cause of the problem.

Switching is a problem (and a serious one) because ship and weapon statistics are index-based, not name-based.  If you switch between one campaign that uses FSPort and another campaign that uses FSPort, you might be fine.  But if you switch from a FSPort campaign to the FS2 campaign and back again, you're going to have issues.

Yeah, I suspect that's what's causing the problem. You really need to have one pilot file for each mod you're running. This is one of the Bad Things that can happen if you use the same pilot for all your campaigns.

You should really make a new one just for FSPort. You'll have to restart the campaign, unfortunately, and you'll lose all your stats, but at least it'll work.
