You must admid, the marketing campaign for this game is one of THE best ever.
Capturing the humor, theme and style of the game, showcasing the talents behind it, entertaining as hell
Now they are even making fun of the competition:

The Cube Challenge for example was brilliant! It's a big showing-off vid "look what an awesome number of songs we have" packed into a natural clip with Tim Schafer.

And the game seems to be really good too, original yes, variety yes, humor yes, looks good yes, great presentation yes
and it has THE BEST MAIN MENU EVER! Try out the demo if you have not already.

It's like they know nobody will take them seriously and so they've resigned to make the most absurd rule of cool (http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/RuleOfCool) powered game of all time.

I think plenty of people are taking the game seriously, considering who's developing it. Tim Schafer is one of the most well-respected names in the industry.

I meant story wise.
Seriously, roddie gets transported into rock-themed world and must fight against rock-inspired foes to save the world?
-
I am getting this game.
-
I've been following this for a while. So far its been looking epic.
-
I'm gonna tell you something Ghost, which you may not want to hear.
This game is as close to perfection as you are going to see in a "Video Game" :drevil:
The graphics, while not ZOMG! R34L1ST1C!, are gorgeous and suit the story well with the environment being large and serving the "feel" of the game. The characters that I've seen from the demo are engaging and likeable. The sound, all 108 songs of it, is awe inspiring.

What do you know, they have actually succeeded in making something original!
I agree Brutal Legend trailer = Awesome
-
You people are taking what I said in the wrong way. Perhaps I've phrased myself wrongly.
Example, does anyone here take Day of the Tentacle, by the same guy, seriously? As in its storyline? It's a story about a tentacle who gains arms and goes about using this to fuel his ambition to "CONQUER THE WORLD!!!". It's still the best game of its genre and one of all time greatest, but it doesn't make the premise any less absurd.
That was my point. Brutal Legend takes the same absurdity and ups it to eleven.

Disagreeing. I'd like to have seen a deeper combat system and maybe some plattforming, also, the PS3 version seems to have some slowdown (no idea about the 360) but the rest is great, I agree on that.
However, perfection? No.

Ozzy Osbourne as the guardian of metal makes the best character ever. :D
-
Good music combined with the same old jokes and clichés don't make a good game. In fact, based on the trailer, the game seems quite crap, boring and most of all not funny at all. Boo.

excellent. i was almost thinking i was alone in not caring for the game

You two should take some Prozac.
With an 84% on Metacritic the game is garnering excellent reviews (http://www.metacritic.com/games/platforms/xbox360/brutallegend), and a lot of the praise has been focused on the good acting, touching story, and endearing characters.
-
the main problem i have with it is simply don't care for the style of gameplay.
and that's exasperated by the hype.
-
exasperated
:doubt:
That's as bad as people who say 'for all intensive purposes.'

If by 'all the hype' you mean 'all the critical praise'...sure?

I guess so...porbably add i don't find jack black that amusing...?
*exception: tropic thunder*
I've seen other movies with him and they wern't that amusing to me, and i guess the point is that it seems to be His game, and that may bee the thing..

It's Tim Schafer's game, and he's a renowned game designer for a reason.

Well they should have showed at least a hint of that in the trailer then. :wtf:
-
I imagine the trailer was put together by a marketing department, my friend. Not by game designers.
-
Tim who?
Who's that loud obnoxious muscled guy on that video?
-

Of course. I guess that means you agree with me that they should have.
-
You do indeed guess that.
-
You do indeed guess that.
Correct! So, did I guess wrong? If I did, then why exactly do you think they shouldn't have had?
-
My opinion of the trailer in the first post was quite positive. I felt it did a lovely job of conveying the game's humor and aesthetic, and Jack Black's prosthetic things were pretty hilarious on their own.
