I forgot to ask a vital question. How much real money will we have to shell out to access this game's features?
Glad you asked. All things that affect gameplay can be bought with the in-game cash. The only things that you need to pay ZEN for are camouflage, which doesn't really matter since your name appears over your head, taunts, etc. A gun part costs 3275 GP, and you get ~150 GP per match. Compared to a lot of F2P FPS games, that's pretty lenient. I've been told that Tribes has things unlock at hundreds of thousands of XP points, and you only get 100 or so a match?
Pricing is 3275 GP for a gun part (Muzzle, barrel, optics, magazine, stock) 5500 GP for a receiver (Currently start with Assault Rifle and 9mm Pistol, and can buy SMG, Burst Rifle, Combat Rifle, Bolt Action Rifle, LMG, Heavy Assault Rifle, .45 Cal Pistol, Burst Pistol, Shotgun, and Machine Pistol, with the Tactical SMG, Auto Shotgun, and Dart gun on the way) ~7500 GP for certain items like armor pieces, and other things I can't remember, and 11K GP for tactical equipment (basically the way you differentiate your role on the team. Stuff like health injector, repair tool, barricades, revive injector, cloak, etc).
Additionally, all GP items can be rented for 1, 3, 7, and 30 day intervals, with flat pricing (3 days is the 1 day price times 3) which really helps when you're testing out new loadouts and items.
Admittedly, those looking to buy parts with ZEN are going to be screwed over a bit. A part for your gun costs $5 at the moment, since PWE sets the pricing (again, blugh). But really, if you enjoy playing the game, it's easy to get the GP to perm parts, and you're not screwed over like in AVA where it's impossible to buy guns with euros (in game cash).
