I guess this answers my question on BTRL forums about ship models on their moddb page going missing, the people who created them switch to Diaspora.
I swear I found a few pics of original models on the internet. Something between the Mk II and VII was among them. Maybe it is going to be used in Diaspora?
Some of the pictures which remained on BtRL homepage and ModDB are about models also belonging to Diaspora members...as you will find out soon.
Why does this mod seem so elitist to me?
Donno...might just be because I got pissed off by the badge-teasing...

Yeah, I think it was called the mk5 or something like that.

good to see my baby still being chucked around :-)
Why does this mod seem so elitist to me?We have people from the advertising industry with us. What do you expect? ;)

Just out of curiosity, how'd you guys come up with the name "Diaspora"? :)It wasn't easy for sure. It's hard to come up with a name that refers to the show somehow, is short and easy to remember, is not taken etc. The vote between the final two candidates actually took place just a few days ago.
I think the spirit under which Diaspora is being designed is wonderful. Here's to keeping these high spirits and the continuing love you have for the mod going for as long as possible.
I'm one of the few who're able to spell the word Diaspora correctly! :D
Spirits? Yes, much alcohol consumption was required to bring you this product.

Not to mention "Beyond the DeadLine" and its cousins...
We need to retain *some* dignity. Cope :p

Never having watched Battlestar Galactica before
There is question I want to know. What is the meaning of Diasporahttp://www.hard-light.net/forums/index.php/topic,56783.0.html
Wow, I knew things looked dead over there, but I didn't know the BTRL team split. Anywho guys, good luck, you also have my permission to use my Blackbird in any way you guys see fit. ;)
Diaspora is a well known name due to the fact that it's widely used with Jews. :nod:I want to see beyond Tricia's Clothes :D
About one of the possible name candidates..."Beyond Sumber Six's Clothes" was in the list?
what kind of name is diaspora? to me it just sounds like rubbish. that opinion out the way.
I'm gonna leave it :doubt:A Loki!
Regarding non-canon ships, we will have some that you can fly, but I won't say what they are just yet ;)
Beyond the Blue Line? Beyond the Green Line? Or 'Really Really Far Beyond the Red Line'?I suggested "In front of the Red Line", wasn't too popular. :blah:
this is my opinion so take it or leave it.

could you say what these non-canon ships are? i would wonder if it's always going to be mk7's and mk2's along with a couple of raptors in a fight with many cylon raiders and a few heavy raiders. not really dynamic.

It's one of the suns I made some time ago. Not found in mediavps.
to be honest, i've never really even noticed much Sci-Fi stuff besides SW and FS, but the few screenshots scattered on this board really make me wanna watch the show now.
Then criticize colecampbell666's list of Canadians on his sig... :PHe isn't the one calling it racist.

In BSG people use phones and open doors manually...Well, they've opened Stargates manually. And they use phones.
When I look back and think of Stargate I wonder if that's sci-fi or fantasy.[/shadow][/i][/color]
Yes.Well... yeah.. except for the big blue glowy things... or have you seen the old BattleStar Galactica? Though they might not make an appearance in the reimagined series...
And BSG does take the laudable step of keeping any supernatural elements ambiguous and firmly behind-the-curtain. There are no ascended Ancients floating around and glowing, as there are in Stargate.

Does musics.
Oh I know that, but look at what happened to GW after BtRL was formed. Endless flood of pop-culture n00bs solely interested in BtRL/BSG. There will be overspill, but I guess it'll have to happen.oh im sorry. I thought this was a place where people interested in the mod could talk and freely voice their interest. I guess I've got the wrong place. I understand many on these boards are FS gurus who have made fs open their own. this is awesome and honestly I'm happy to see such a community as this. But when you start grilling some one for asking an honest question, you have to ask: what if someone did the same to you? Cause what would you know if someone didnt tell you truths?
Its a legitimate question...briefings are animated through moving icons and the sizing on the grid. There's also Command Briefings which do have room for animations/videos. I don't think you can put video in a Briefing...Command briefing yes but the regular briefings I don't think so...unless SCP added something recently.

I was thinkin of a way to beef up briefings and wondering if you could actually put in video. I just finished watching the scar ep and noticed vid feeds from the vipers actually do help on tactics. not saying it has to be recorded in real-time during missions, but between mission learning brief...pre-rendered vid. this way you actually get the experience of nugget training instead of flyin out, gettin killed and wondering why. no download city for a viper jock! While such videos in command briefings would be very cool to have, I have doubts if we have the time to make them. I'd rather be doing full cutscenes than videos played in a small window with a horrible .ani format.
I had thought that it was already possible to run DivX or some other video format in the CB Animation window. I could be wrong on this but I thought that it was now possible. In which case...use something to capture a firing sequence, use a video editor to make it look all gun camera like and voila! :)I was thinkin of a way to beef up briefings and wondering if you could actually put in video. @a50: No offense was meant to you, and :welcomesilver:, if you've seen the BtRL board you know what I mean.hey thanks my brotha! :) another one of the reasons why I pointed out a video learning briefing might be good, is because it is a big part of the show...in terms of piloting. Could serve as a way on how to work with your wingmen, AI or online. So when starbuck tells you: "come on, they drilled this into you!" you know what she means. plus it could be eh... skipable
And also, I believe someone is working on coding some kind of video code for CBs. I think it may have been blowfish.
Someone will no doubt be along to fire up a welcome beam sometime :) (you'll know it when you see it)
Excellent! I'm sure there will be a 118 before too long :DSomeone will no doubt be along to fire up a welcome beam sometime :) (you'll know it when you see it)
My current count is 117 Welcomed Newbies ;7
Ok, so I just now found out about Diaspora. I have to say, I've been quite confused over the past months over the lack of activity over at BTRL; I guess I missed the memo about the split. But at least I'm here now, and I've got to say I'm very excited to see the work you guys are doing. You've given me renewed hope I'll get to jump into the rendered cockpit of a Viper.
On a slightly related note, I've been seeing/hearing the word 'diaspora' everywhere these few days ...
Seriously :doubt:, if you want to go and spend your time there then your broke.
Me i just mine in EvE online and browse the webz. :D
So alot has changed. mmmmm
Seems like a divorce to me, lol :D
So, are you finally going to put the feature that allows us to jump out of the cockpit and punt a cylon raider in the eye and then ride it like a cowboy while weaving our cowboy hat?

This feature is already in beta.... on you mum!
so will it be possible to manually target missiles? not talkin about nukes, the ones you usually need countermeasures for?

Hi there, Tesla! I wondered when you'd get here! :)
Yep. Check out the image in This Post (http://www.hard-light.net/forums/index.php/topic,56937.msg1156013.html#msg1156013) by LtCannonFodder - The big green bomb-like warhead seen 2nd from the right is a colonial nuke. Cylons, of course, will have their own.
Quick Q, is there a shoutbox here?Nope, no spambox in these parts.

For shame!!
How are people like Snail going to express themselves
Hey kewltoyz your ship is looking a lot better since I last saw it, You're progressing well. Though I'm not sure if it's bsgish enough?
Also I'd hazard a guess the stealthstar may already have been modelled?
The size of a polygon has little impact on performance. What causes problems is the number.
As for whether or not we do it. Not decided yet.
