Yep, I've gone through thousands of those things during my time in the green. With the current iteration of our ration packs (in Australia, anyway), we only really use it for opening tinned fruit and tinned cheese now. For whatever reason, the procurement gods decided to invest in a separate plastic spoon that can be used to eat the actual MREs, seen here, tucked into the front of this guy's body armour.

Every time I see one of those godforsaken FREDs, I'm reminded of all the mornings I spent using them to fish out the last gram of cheese whilst out in the field. I always found the canned cheese to be a good appetite suppressant after beginning breakfast with a liberal serving of nagging regret at having willingly chosen to serve in the goddamn infantry. So imagine my surprise at seeing an old nemesis in my internet safe space!

Joe, you asked about the status of TBG at the end of your last video:

The last update for TBG that was posted on Knossos was in August 2022.  Herkie has done two minor mission updates since then (one was in October 2022 and one earlier this month in January 2023).  They have not got posted to Knossos yet.  We can't seem to quite get it done ourselves; someone has said they would help us to get it on Knossos one last time but that person hasn't done so yet.

I would say you have two options here (assuming we can't get the absolute latest update on Knossos from the person who's helping us):
1-Go ahead and play it.  The last two updates were relatively minor balance issues on a couple missions and dialogue/grammar improvements.  They weren't giant changes in other words...no gamebreaking errors.  It should be fine as it is on Knossos now.  I tested TBG on MVPs 4.6.6 (I haven't tried 4.6.7 yet but that wasn't a big update so I don't think it should make a difference) and FSO 22.2 and found no gamebreaking errors.

2-Download the recent TBG update file

and switch out the current "Missions.vp" file in the TBG folder with that newer one (which contains all the updated info for TBG since the last Knossos update).  I know you might not be crazy about doing a manual update that way, but it is only one file.  Your call.
