Re: FreeSpace Open Installer! Download it now!
So what's your speed limit, mister?  :drevil:
*hears FS fans gunning their engines as they wait in line to d'l*

EDIT: Hmm, how much would it cost to upgrade Hunter's account to the next level?
How about RazorsKiss' account?

I have 5.5 teras/month.  Using 375 right now, including the files I'm already hosting for the installer.

I should be ok for a bit.  I just capped the bandwidth limit for the domain hosting the files at 2.5 teras/month, until I know what it's going to end up at.

Funny part is:  I don't even play Freespace :D  I like the Installer though, and Turey is always more than helpful on IRC (which the rest of you should visit!).

Nah.  Played them both when they came out.  They just move too slowly for me.

Great games, though.  Just not my speed.  Pun intended :D

Re: FreeSpace Open Installer! Download it now!
You'd prolly like Descent I & II; try D2X-XL (link in my siggy); you'll need the original game files also.  Action from start to finish!!  ;)

Owned, owned.

I might :D

I liked descent way better than the FS sequels, yeah.  The online pilots thing was what put the final nail in the coffin, too.  Tachyon - 64, Allegiance 32 - Freespace2... wha?

heh.

Re: FreeSpace Open Installer! Download it now!
Online pilots thing?  What you mean?

BTW, D2X-XL has tracker support.  The whole thing is only 2MB flat, then add the retail files for D1 & D2, plus hi-res textures if you want them (of course!), plus the hi-res Pyro (~5 Megs, IIRC).  But the 2 Meg will get you going.  Let me know if you need help re-installing the retail or anything else...

EDIT: Click on the D2X-XL link on the slide-out panel to the left; then open the same panel on D2X-XL site, hit "Worklog"; check out the D2X-XL video, as well as the other vids... also look at the new singleplayer mission screenies he's got there.

How many people can play at once.  In FS2's case, not so many :D

Yeah, well - when compared to 32+, it wasn't on the top of my list at the time :D

And I meant FSO and D2X-XL... if you know how to fix either, by all means, help out the projects!

I'm planning to start coding for the SCP this summer.

Sorry but the link for this installer does not work either.

I gave you this link to explain that both of these installers are down because of the same problem : the bandwidth overcharge mentioned here:
Sending those files up now.

Just try not to run my bandwidth limits skyhigh too :D

You do realize, all of you, that he had 4.5 terabytes+ of bandwidth?  You folks are scary.

You've got ten days to prepare for a bandwidth jump. To help Hunter out, the Installer will be down until April 1st. Sorry.

If you'd like to help Hunter with his bills, you can do so here.

Wait until April 1st, and everything will be working correctly. As odd as that sounds.

If that works, then good for you.

I wouldn't get my hopes up though.

EDIT: New version of retail Installer is up, all bandwidth used is RK's (Except for the 700KB initial download.)

From what I could tell, everything but the first link on that page are just the retail files, not the SCP upgrades.  The first link says it can install Freespace Open, but the source it uses is down because it failed to get the files when I tried it.  So I would go back and get the newest version of Turey's installer and try again now that it should be on usable host.

Only the Retail Installer is up. Not the Open Installer. That's why it failed.

If someone points me in the correct direction of the files I have a very very large mirror you can host it on, it is about 17TB of disk and can do 4.5tb in less then a day (and often does)

We had a file requested for the Freespace 2 SCP but i want to make sure I get the latest version
