    Hey, kid, the elves were going through Mr. Mination's files, and we saw that you were pretty generous with this whole Covert Crimbo thing, and maybe the person who was buying you gifts, not so much.

    I'm a guy who knows a little something about always giving out presents and not getting much in return, so I figure you could use a little payback. So I thought about having some of my old Mafia penguin buddies pay your CCB a visit, but then I remembered the spirt of the holiday and all that crap, and I just whipped up a sackload of presents for you.

    No need to thank me, unless you want to thank me in booze. Nah, just kidding. I've got the elves working hard on building me a distillery, so I'm good.

looks like i now run the official hard light kol clan. since all the administrators have gone inactive, i made myself one of them. also since i hold a mr. a, this likely makes me the permanent ruler of the clan. so beeifing your karma and waiting for an admin to go inactive wont work. muahahahaha!

This new 'Bees Hate You' path is Brutal.

Yes.  And there are seasonal challenges now, though I'm not sure how many they plan to have.  The current one (listed for Summer 2011) is 'Bees Hate You':

-For every 'b' in your equipped items, take 10% damage.
-You can't use most items with a 'b' in them. (this is the Brutal part)
-Bee-based enemies will attack you every set amount of turns.
-And other, more spoilery stuff.

I'm a level 5 Disco Bandit, so I kind of dropped the ball on this one.

As an aside, they really killed the purpose of HC-perming, since you no longer have to do any HC runs to HC-perm anything.

I'm level 19 and still haven't bothered to smite the NS. I've got by scuba gear. But appear to be vulnerable to fishy attacks. Advice?

You spend karma to perm skills.  And karma doesn't reset to zero after you descend.

Softcore perming costs 100, and hardcore perming costs 200, but hardcore perming a skill that's already softcore permed only costs 100.

A softcore run gets you 100 karma, a hardcore run gets you 200, a hardcore bee run gets you 300.  You can discard instant karma for 11 karma.

Oh, by the way, you don't get path rewards until after you kill the NS, and you can't use them until you are level 13.  This doesn't actually affect me all that much, but it still seems kind of 'bleh'.
