I can tell you right now..
It's X-Com. The mechanics are the same - improved in some places. You can use cover(and destroy it too), use supressive fire, fire over crouching friendlies, etc...

If I do play I'll play on IronMan..to resist the tempation to reload.
Technicly I can start it right now, but Beta 1 should be out by the 9th (give or take a few days)

Some good news and some bad news.

Bad news - one cannot edit soldier details. The only thing I can change is the callsign.
What this means is that the rough apperance and sex are only things I will be taking into consideration, as chances of generating the appropriate country are slim.


Good news
The beta should be out in two days.
I'm atm making a test run of the game (and the team) with a Aircraft mod (that adds more aircraft options) and so far it works great.

Using the Aircraft mod and rushing to get advanced US airfract saved my butt, because the last update caused entire UFO fighter squadrons to pop up everywhere. I lost 7 aircraft before I managed to hold them back with this:

Miracolously, no losses yet. Altough I and Rodo got almost killed when we tried to stop plasma with our faces. 1 hit from a plasma weapon is almost always a kill.
With Jackal Combat Armor a soldier will survive, but be heavily wounded.

Spaking of which Headdie hasn't killed anone yet, after 9 missions.
Valkyrie does good, when she ISN'T killing civilians... that shotty of hers knows no mercy.
