Here you'll find info on the INF SCP/SCP Standard hybrid mod Inferno: Alliance.
This includes several screenshots not shown on the forums, and a ship gallery with all the new ships not originally featured in FS1, FS2 or INF SCP.
Oh and it's not avaliable for download yet :p
-
Wow an entire week without a response, that has to be a new recored for here... :sigh:
-
It's kind of hard to get excited about something that isn't available for download....make it available for download and I think you'll see alot more activity.
Also, i have to say... it doesn't make sense to release mods that don't use the SCP to the fullest. Alot of screenshots from you don't look as good as my SCP which makes me suspect you don't have a top of the line or even mainstream gaming rig, Woomeister (ie : a 6800 class or better)
Having HTL models isn't a must, but it's somewhat underwhelming seeing videos at 640 x 480 with alot of older effects, no env mapping, etc, when you're playing something much more beautiful at home...

Uh the next Inferno release doesn't use SCP eye candy to its fullest. Should I cancel INF SCP now then?
Most of our weapons and effects are several years old now and probably won't be replaced as we have over 200 weapons to redo then. Unless you have an army of effects artist willing to lend a hand?
I have a 9200SE in this system which I take the movies off and do most development on, and an X700 in my laptop which I take most HTL shots on. I only have the SCP standard version on this system.

It's based in FS1 era times so I'm using the FS1 era weapons as they are. The other 'EA' weapons look like they currently do in INF SCP, though I tweaked a few of them.
I don't use ENV as I do development on my desktop system which doesn't really like HTL models and env doesn't work on it. ENV works on my X700 but only with a cubemap, which just seems to paint non existant nebulas on my ships.
I won't be upgrading anything as I don't have the staff to do it, I've produced this in the last three months solo with a bit of help in testing from Qwer (thanks dude )
Are these better 'eye candy'?

I'm a little curious as to when this campaign takes place. From the looks of it it is telling the same timespan as S:AH. Or is this the remake of S:AH we've been promised (the one with SCP compatibility)
-
It's set in Sol before the formation of the EA. It's not a S:AH remake as S:AH had nothing to do with us.
-
Well, it looks better with those shots, why not release it and let us play it and perhaps then you'll get the platitudes you are seeking.
-
I have to make a few more SP non campaign missions first. Unless you only want to play only one mission against the Shivans :)
Qwers looking into some MP missions as well.
The campaign is about half done (10/20 missions)
Note the trailer is only about 5 days into the development of the campaign. Though without the HTL models running on a decent system it'll look similar to the trailer, and if the last few ships don't get cockpits, then your stuck with the non HTL versions for now...
I just wanted a responce really, over 100 views to both topics and not one single reply which isn't usual for this forum.
-
Today is the first i've seen or heard of it and I frequent this place too often already.
I'm always excited for any inferno related release but I must say it has been enervating waiting for R2 and i've only been playing since April :p
I would suggest putting at least a 3 mission demo of it out so people can give impressions, ideas, or just play something new while the likely multi-month wait commences...
-
Well I posted the trailer in April:
http://www.hard-light.net/forums/index.php/topic,39362.0.html
and I posted these topics a week ago, so it's not like I've been keeping it a secret :)
I built up three fleets during that time, then made the mod work as a FS2/INF hybrid.
I have to do a lot of testing when I add things as I need to keep compatability with both SCP standard and INF SCP, which isn't easy sometimes.
Well the first release will be a few SP missions (depends on how many I want to make) possibly a few MP missions and ALL the mod. Though HTL ships will only be released once I reach the minimum requirements I set in the HTL thread. I'll just need to release the campaign once it's done then.
-
with a bit of help in testing from Qwer (thanks dude )
Well i'm not doing anything special exept MP missions. :p

Sorry. I would have been here to show support, but i had my A-Level exams during April-June season, so i wasn't avalible.
I did see your trailer however; mod looks really good. Hope you have fun making it.
-
Heh I keep adding to it. Originally it was for INF only and was about 50mb, now the SCP standard version is 228mb with the new HTL models included. It's almost the same size as R1 now :D
(INF version is 116mb)
-
you might want to check out the updated angel and valkyrie maps that were posted here recently...
-
I have those on my desktop, I just need a cockpitted Valkyrie/Angel to use them with ;7
-
I have those on my desktop.
Wow. I feel flattered.
-
Well if I don't put them on my desktop I'll probably forget about it. I have the Valk and Angel pof files and several cob files I've been working on the last few days. My desktop gets quite messy sometimes :D

Shots from a SP mission I was working on today.
-
Ugh, just release it already, such a tease !
Between this, Inferno SCP, Blackwater Ops, Shadows S:AH update, there's tons of campaigns that look awesome to play that i just can't...
-
I'll probably wait until 3.6.9 is finalised. RC4 broke something though it's fixed now. I don't want to release it and have to patch it a few days later due to code changes :)
Well this is entering its 4 month in development so it hasn't taken years like INF SCP or BWO, which I don't think is bad for a solo effort, so I think you can hang on a bit longer
Heh I get complaints from not releasing enough eye candy, not usually the other way around
Of course this gives people more time for someone to volunteer to do cockpits for the Valkyrie and Angel so I can release the HTL stuff to...
-
whoa whoa whoa, where did that vas destroyer came from? were there like only 4 vas fighters, well i mean they were the only vas in the sol system after the SSD Lucifer was destroyed?
-
Not necessarily. Four Vasudan fighters came through the node at the final battle, but nowhere is said that there weren't any others that came before that. For example, a planetful of refugees from Vasuda Prime must've gone somewhere... and probably at least some transports found their ways into Sol system. Also, there might well have been some Vasudan reinforcements to the 1st Fleet. AFAIK there's no canon evidence forth or against, so...
BTW, thous pics are cool otherwise, but they have a terrrible lot of compression artefacts. :blah:
-
whoa whoa whoa, where did that vas destroyer came from? were there like only 4 vas fighters, well i mean they were the only vas in the sol system after the SSD Lucifer was destroyed?
Like I've said many times before. The Terran ships are for the Sol campaign, the Vasudan and Shivan ships are for you lot to do what you like with.
That mission is based in Antares not Sol. Only the Terran ships in this mod are part of the official timeline, the rest is for fun.
As for compression artifacts, that's probably the pixel shader.
-
Ah i see now. my apologies, but the pic look cool.
-
All the fleets are nearly the same size for core ships (fighters, bombers and capships)
The Vasudans lack one bomber which doesn't really bother me
The Shivans lack a second general destroyer, I'd really like one but have no design for one.
All Terran ships are used in the Sol campaign except for the Ulysses, which is the reason I'm willing to release the HTL pack if someone adds cockpits just to the Valkyrie and Angel.
-

Maybe you should post this in the FSUpgrade forum. I'm sure someone would be willing to oblige.
-
Well I only need the Valkyrie done now. I managed to get an ok looking cockpitted Angel done today. Pic in the HTL thread.
-
Restarted on the campaign now that the HTL stuff is out the way.
The Martian destroyer Auriga under attack.
-
Alright now your screenshots are doing it some justice. Ah, i know it'll look better over here anyway. My freespace folder is 5 GB now, i have alot of good mods, and this is going to be one of them.
-
Well I'm not here to produce eye candy, I'm here to try and make something that's fun to play. I'm not an artist so I have to work with what I've got, and some of the Inferno stuff is really old.
I'll probably get complaints after release for not using x effect or updated y from the media vps, though I can always add anything later if I want to.
-
Looking good. Glad to see you're keeping busy. I like the website too, I love reading descriptions of the ships.
-
The only reason there isn't a tech description section for the main INF mod is the number of ships. I'd have to make pages for over 150 ships and it would take some time :D
I'm considereing adding some of the GTEx (Arcadia extensions) models to the mod. I'm getting fed up of just using a standard Arcadia each time I have a station mission. I've made two new ones the GTExC and the GTExX though both are still prototypes. The GTExC was made for a mission rewrite for this mod.
-
(http://inferno.hard-light.net/SOL/shots/SOL13-1.jpg)

The almost complete GTExC.

The last mission to be started now (though not the last campaign mission)
15 missions are in beta status ready for testing, the last five should follow shortly.
-
Is that a Zagreus duel?
Or two Zagreus' picking on a poor Tyr?
Either way the ships are looking really good.
-

It's a Martian Zagreus Vs an Earth Zagreus and 3 escorting cruisers. It was quite difficult to balance as the Martian ship is clearly outmatched.
-
Getting Excited for release now :D
-
Some of the models from the original Inferno look damn good anyway, as do many here. I just like my effects better than yours.
Actually, Freespace 1 mods look the best on my computer, thanks to the work of those guys. Ship Nameplates and Decals add alot. I just miss beams... something i'm not going to be missing in Inferno:Alliance, right ? Just when were beams first developed anyway - we didn't see them until Freespace 2, and this is prior to that time period...
-
The Hades had the prototype beams developed off of Lucifer tech... and I think the Deimos was the first to have the beams on its original design. Course, this is in Sol, they might well have developed them quicker, due to having actual wreckage from the cannons to work on.
-
Well our effects are 1-5 years old.

Only 1 ship in the main campaign gets a beam weapon, and that's near the end of the campaign. Railguns are the main anti-warship weapon used in place of beams.
-
Be interesting to see how you've done the railgun effect, and whether it's the same as how I envisioned them.
I imagined them as high-speed (2000-3000m/s) laserglow bitmaps with a trail that lasts for a few seconds after the projectile has detonated at its target. Ingame, it looks quite spectacular, as there is a glowing trail to mark the passage of the railgun shot, that fades to 0.0 alpha after a few seconds.
Or is that giving away inside secrets? :P
-
Our railguns are slower. Sid wants to make them very fast but it totally destroys balance and they won't render correctly on some systems due to their speed.
Ours uses both standard trails and Pspew to create the trail effect.
-
So, whats the timeframe estimate for at least a demo of alliance ? A month? Two ?
-
I have mission dialogue to redo for m15, several cb anis to do, then I need to fix mapping errors on the HTL Orion and Faustus and create a campaign file. I pushed myself this weekend and got the last 5 missions ready for internal testing.
Hopefully the full thing should be released within 1-2 months if testing goes well and I think it's ok to launch with whatever version of 3.6.9 is around then.
-

Everyone remember that timespan. We'll hold you to it, Woomeister! :D
-
Hey if you want it untested you can have it in a day or two :D
I'd rather wait myself though.
-
Here's some of the single frame cb anis I made today:
All of these were produced using FS Open itself, except for the stuff around the Hera, though the Hera is from the lab.
-
Nice! for sum reason my eye keeps getting drawn to the hera, very cool.
-
That's the only 'new technology' ani I had to do. You get the Hera for the very last mission.
-
This mod of yours looks amazing Woo. I hope you had fun developing it.
-
Well it was a refreshing change and is easier to manage even though it's far larger than the original plan due to the added hybrid support.
-
I thought I saw a INF:A mission based in Antares. That's kinda funny how Inferno, set in 2400, can go back to 2336. :)
-
That's a NC mission, not part of the main campaign. All 20 campaign missions are set in Sol.
-
Yes, I mean one that uses its MODs.
Anyway, i thought you said that the only Orion in Sol was the Auriga. What about the Gaia/Terra of the GTA 1st Fleet? The GTA HAD to have at least 1 back in Sol.
-
No, the only Orion featured in INFA is the Auriga, it is not the only Orion in Sol.
-
Oh, okay, that makes sense. :)
And which is more powerful, Mageara or Het-Ka?
oops, I mean Magaera. :)
-
Megaera :D
Depends were you place them. The Het-Ka has more forward beams but the EA Railguns are better than the Vasudan Neutron cannons.
Megaera was one of the Erinyes (Furies), a Greek goddess of vengeance.
-
What? Vasudans are weak in every MOD... Well this is the HoL we're talking about... And on the subjec of Vasudans does Khonsu II still get assassinated in the new plot? I liked how that happend, it made Inferno have more tension during joint operations. :).
-
Our Vasudans have more tactical weapons than the Terrans I suppose. They have fighter mounted flak and beam weapons when the Terrans don't. The Apothess is still a great tactical weapon and you'll be seeing a few of those in the main INF campaign.
Oh I think the Vasudan ships in INFA carry more Neutron cannons than the Sol ships have railguns, so though they do less damage per shot, more shots are usually fired at a single target which evens things out a bit.
-
Vasudans have neutron guns already in INF:A? That's interesting.
Guess Khonsu II plot is secret right now. :doubt:
Anyway, are Plasma weapons better than Neutron guns?
-
No the NC stuff isn't official.
-
So the Khonsu assassination isn't Inf canon?
-
No the Vasudan stuff in INFA isn't.
-
I mean in INF R1, the Intelligence tech room said that Khonsu II was killed by some Terran assassins, and that Khonsu III succeded him. Is this still canon in INF:SCP?
-
Well the intel section hasn't been changed since R1, so I'm not sure about that.
-
That intel section made me sad.... Terrans and Vasudans splitting up? :(
I liked the GTVA.......
-
Yeah, at first I was like 'whoa', but after playing that mission where you protect the convoy from a few rag-tag EA bombers, came to like the way Terrans and Vasudans hated each other. We didn't get enough of that in FS1, and in FS2 they were already happy friends. Inferno really had tension in that mission. :)
-
The crown jewel mission of R1 had to be Nemesis, the one in high orbit above Earth. One of the most brilliantly done missions I've ever seen.
I just hope a second T-V War isn't on Inferno's agenda.
-
I just hope a second T-V War isn't on Inferno's agenda.
No plans for one.
-
The crown jewel mission of R1 had to be Nemesis, the one in high orbit above Earth. One of the most brilliantly done missions I've ever seen.
Hell yeah! Is there going to be a Nemesis remake? That would be ubercool. It just better be on par or better than the original (if that's possible, of course).
And in R1, I noticed that the Sol missions used different suns. That's funny since they're in the same system. :P.
-
The game can't handle with the updated stuff a m14 style mission like the R1 one. The mission has to be split into parts which are their own seperate mission file.
-
Aww... :sigh:
-
The game can't handle with the updated stuff a m14 style mission like the R1 one. The mission has to be split into parts which are their own seperate mission file.
This will make it even more interesting.
-
Woo, when is the next time you'll update the site? Both Alliance and SCP are missing stuff.
-
What's the Alliance site missing?
-
Downloads, of course! :P
Okay, it isn't missing anything. :nervous:
Meep... News?
-
There's no news right now.
-
Can you just release it without HTL? Please? Please? Please? PLEASE?
-
I'll probably have to, doesn't look like those models will be fixed anytime soon.

Why not just launch with all HTL models except those two?
-
Because I'd have to immediately patch it once they are fixed. I can just delay the HTL pack until they are fixed instead.
-
I think that's a good idea.
-
I think I'd be pretty good as a tester, seeing as I already pointed out multiple mistakes without even being on the staff, and from mere screenshots. :nervous:
-
I think I'd be pretty good as a tester
Me too...
How big is the INF:A package?
-
To run it on a non Inferno setup it's currently 96.77mb compressed.
-
To run it on a non Inferno setup it's currently 96.77mb compressed.
Why non Inferno? It's all completely new(ok there are some ships already used,ok)
Compressed...43-44 mb.Good.
-
No the 96.77mb is compressed. It's 231mb uncompressed.
You don't have INF SCP so you have to run a SCP standard version which includes a massive amount of INF files. If you run without these files it won't work unless you have INF SCP installed. This is a hybrid release that will run on INF SCP or regular FS2 SCP, however if you want it running on FS2 SCP you have to download more files. You don't need these files if you have INF SCP. I need to have complete compatability with INF SCP so files like the FS2 ships used and the HTL stuff are all provided, since they won't be there in INF SCP. It uses few FS2 retail files, and so that's why it's large.
Since this'll be released far before INF SCP, the SCP standard will be the most used version, as currently only the INF staff can play it on INF SCP :)
-
Since this'll be released far before INF SCP, the SCP standard will be the most used version, as currently only the INF staff can play it on INF SCP :)
And no one will have it for a looong time. :D
-
Well no, it's a hybrid release there isn't a seperate release for INF SCP.
-
I posted a list of ships a while back. He just tried to put it into some sort of order.
-
I'm an uber fan. What do you expect?
-
PVF Ulysses? Is that allowed,..............Not tryin to rock the boat or anything :blah:
-
It's a Terran-Vasudan hybrid.
You don't need to use it if you don't want to. Neither version is used in the INFA campaign.
-
The Ulysses was no doubt the most useless fighter in FS1, IMO.
-
Well the Antaeus is the fighter of choice in this mod :)
-
PVF Ulysses? Is that allowed,..............Not tryin to rock the boat or anything :blah:
Well just put an alt name...or rename the model GTVF Ulysses....
-
There is no GTVA so GTV wouldn't be right.
-
There is no GTVA so GTV wouldn't be right.
yeah I forgot it,then goes for TVF.
-
Which still isn't right unless there was some form of alliance.
-
It was a Triton Dynamics / Mekhu Enterprises endeavor, right?
-
Right.
Woo:It was used in the Great War.A numbe rof those fighters should be present in Sol,designated TVF I guess.
-
There's no proof that they were manufactured in the Sol system. I don't include the Loki or Zeus at all even though there could be GTI plans for them in the system.
I only included it for legacy support.
-
Not Manufactured, but present. The best stuff first reaches Sol,right?
-
Well the Antaeus is considered the best fighter now :)
Since it was a joint project with the Vasudans it is uncertain if Sol would continue/be able to produce it. So I left it out of the campaign but included it in the mod for those who may want it.
-
If I finish FreeSpace 1 Overhaul with FreeSpace Freak, I'm going to create a campaign that has you playing as the GTI. Do you mind if I use a few INF:A ships? Wait a sec, doesn't the Antaeus have only 1 missile bank?
-
Sure though I don't include any interface art other than shield icons so you'll need to make your own if you don't use the games built in capabilities to generate the art.
Yeah it only has 1 missile bank, it's the only main weak point of the fighter.
-
So it's like the Herc II with one less missile point?
-
Yeah, but it has more gun mounts than the Herc 2.
It was dubbed the Herc 1.5 by some.
-
But in Sol they didn't know about the GTVA's Herc Mk II. They could've called it the GTF Hercules Mark II, they had no knowledge of the GTVA's version.
-
Yeah, but that would of been confusing :)
-
I suddenly have an idea...
Use the Alternate Name tag in FRED to get two different ships with the same name. Would that work? :doubt:
LoL, I can only imagine a mission where you're in a Herc II and suddenly you see the enemy also flying Herc II's... but they look so different... both sides of the battle would probably go :wtf:
-
Well the Antaeus isn't a herc so we don't have that problem.
-
Um... Would the Antaeus and the Herc II even meet in the first place?
-
Um... Would the Antaeus and the Herc II even meet in the first place?
I thought so... I was thinking about the time line when I was typing that post. Wouldn't both ships already be retired by the time the Melia opens? :doubt:
-
When the Melai was finished, there was the EA...
-
Melia
-
Melia
I was digiting fast...c'mon...It's even an Italian-like word...
-
Sorry, I'm being an ass.
-
Sorry, I'm being an ass.
I know it.
Thenwhere is this screenshot?
-
And what does it mean?
-
I suddenly have an idea...

The other way to go about it would be to use the same technique as was used to create 2 EASD Nemesis super-destroyers with the same name. In the ships table file, add an unrecognized character to the end of its name.
-
So that's how the nanojumping worked...
-
Yeah, it's good when techniques have a simple solution eh?
I'm gonna sound like a total noob for asking this, but how do you type high-ASCII characters? I have asked this over.... and over....and over again and NO ONE seems to be able to give me a straight answer!
Or, if they do, it doesn't seem to work.... :(
-
I wanted to use the copy-of-ship technique once, so I looked into the Inferno mission which used it, in Wordpad and copied the character, then pasted it into the mission I wanted, which I'd also opened in Wordpad.
-
Be easier if I could just type the ****ing thing...
Sorry, I just spent a long time staring at a problematic table file that seemed to have nothing wrong with it, so I'm a little short on patience and sleep..... :sigh:
-
I'm gonna sound like a total noob for asking this, but how do you type high-ASCII characters? I have asked this over.... and over....and over again and NO ONE seems to be able to give me a straight answer!
Open Notepad, hold down Alt, and type a number between 128 and 255.
-
If Alliance is still missing a Shivan destroyer, may I suggest a reskinned Cernunnos? I was looking around and I found it used to be in Inferno, and I saw a render of it somewhere and it looked pretty good except for the skins.
-
Why Alliance should use other Shivan stuff if it won't be present in the main campaign?
-
Well there's nothing stopping you adding the stuff to the main INF mod as additional content once both are released ;)
-
Well there's nothing stopping you adding the stuff to the main INF mod as additional content once both are released ;)
You are simply encouraging FREDders making INF:A campaigns...
well,I am pretty motivated...
-
Hmmm, Woo, I was looking at screenshots and came across the picture of the Athena in the lab. At the bottom of the list it says 'GTD Adamanthea'. Is that the Fenris-mapped Orion? Or something else?
Oh, and will it be in Alliance?
-
You'll see that in a later mission. It's not the fenris style one, I already said that was just a test of the maps.
-
I thought it was the Fenris Orion because the Athena was an older shot, and maybe it was named Adamanthea before you got rid of it.
-
Ha hem Amantea is a town 30 km away from here.
And Adamanthart was my turtle :(
-
Adamanthart was your turtle? What happend to him/her/it?
-
I thought it was the Fenris Orion because the Athena was an older shot, and maybe it was named Adamanthea before you got rid of it.
That was 'GTD Orion 1' :p
-
Adamanthart was your turtle? What happend to him/her/it?
She/he/it has escaped this summer.Probably he/she/it is devastating the little river 50 mts from my house, eating every damned form of life.
He/she/it was a North American turtle,I watched someone in TV talking about them.Once they are free, they can kill most life forms.
What's this Cernunnos?
-
Shivan Destroyer from an old campaign called um... GTD Wolf?
-
Where I can find it?It could be useful for Steady or STHCRS....
-
I was looking for it but I can't find it anywhere... It may have been in some pack I found a while ago when I was searching, but that link died when HLP moved, I think.
-
I believe that ship was like the Het-ka, it was an edited Shivan or Vasudan bomber IIRC.
-
I believe had it when you were fighting it against Inferno's warship in the thread 'Cernunnos vs....' (yup, I did do my homework when I was looking around :D).
It's probably stuck on another one of your backup disks around somewhere... :blah:
-
Well it won't be on my system anyway. I rarely keep stuff that I don't use from that period on it.
Anyway since this is the Alliance thread I'll announce that I managed a full playthrough of all 20 campaign missions over the weekend. Then the forum died so I couldn't report it :p
-
Do you need...ehm....help?
-
Not at the moment. I need to debug it and rebuild the VP files.
-
Ok,I'll wait.
Please consider that I'm the only member here free for testing since Snail entered Machina Terra :D
-
Well T-Man and Neoterran have both contacted me before about testing it, so your probably not the only one.
-
But I'm always here! :D
-
Well there's going to be more than one tester, so you don't need to panic about it :D
-
WOOOOOO HOOOOO I'LL HAVE AN I NEAR MY NICK!!!!
Excellent.Simply Excellent.
-
An avatar?
Only the INF team gets those sorry, and they don't work anymore anyway.
You won't get internal access either for obvious reasons.

At least I could have a "Tester for Inferno"in my signature....
-
No, but "Tester for Inferno: Alliance" would be fine :)
-
No, but "Tester for Inferno: Alliance" would be fine :)
Ah,I forgot the difference between R2 and A....
Goes for "Tester for Inferno:Alliance"
Can I add it to my signature(even if I'm not a tester right now)?

Not until testing begins, otherwise others may think it has already begun.
-
I forgot about this matter too...
-
Ehh... Styxx hasn't contacted me in a while... I don't really know what missions have been finished so I don't know what to work on... :blah:
-
Ehh... Styxx hasn't contacted me in a while... I don't really know what missions have been finished so I don't know what to work on... :blah:
You're Machina Terra,I'm INF:A.
-
I meant I don't have much to do now... But he's mailed me and I'll probably get the docs by the weekend...
-
Styxx should have asked me for support,he made a major mistake...
You remain a MT guy,I remain an INF:A one.All ok.
-
Meh I've worked on MT before :p
-
Officer exchange program?
-
*Wonders about public testing :sigh:*
;7 ;7
-
Public testing is almost done, but some late additions for INFA1+2 has delayed me from making the required changes.
-
Um... Are you talking about me and the grammar mistakes?? :nervous:
They're almost done, but I think I'll only be able to get them to you tommorow....
-
The late additions?
No I'm talking about the skyboxes and some other things :)
-
Ok I noticed that with INFA2 installed I was about to hit 130 ship entries, which is really close to the max limit. So I've removed the additional fleets (Shivan and Vasudan ships) and they'll be avaliable in an optional file so they can be turned off for INFA2 (by removing/renaming the VP file) or not downloaded at all if you only want to play with the Terran ships.
Tests of the new setup on SCP standard seems to be working ok, but I'll let the testers have the new files once I'm done with some of the actual mission updates.
-
Damn, guess that means there'll be no Vasudans in INFA2 either... If only this was like MindGames... Isolated Vasudans vs. Isolated Terrans vs. More Isolated Terrans!
Err....
-
I never planned to have the Vasudans in INFA2 anyway, and if you want all the ships at the same time to do such a thing you can just use an INF Build. I may not go over the limit, but I'm not taking any chances with INFA so close to release, I don't want to have to do such heavy patching at a later date.
-
Hmm this is starting to get big now.
The original R1 release was 251mb (it's 286mb with the patch) INFA with all INF, HTL and extra content files is 263mb making it larger than the original R1 release. It's 107mb to download across 6 files.
-
Well I didn't download the HTL pack.
-
Well that is the 2nd smallest file of the 6.
-
Perhaps you should inform those of us with slower connections which files are unessential.
-
I've mentioned several times which files aren't essential for it, and will do so on the download page.
-
Well I didn't download the HTL pack.
Booooooo!!!!!!! :D
I have DLed files around 10mb from here, then the others from school. Divinding the pack is six smaller ones has turned to be the best choice(and R1 was 135mb in just once pack if I remember well,so...).
Also removing Shivans/Vasudans is ok,if you are too close to the limit.
I see from the screenshots that INF:A 2 uses upgraded EA textures :pimp:
-
You could get R1 in smaller packs as well.
INFA2 has to use the new EA stuff as it's for INF SCP. The old stuff is incompatable now. The INFA2 EA ships are the current and most up to date INF SCP ones.
-
I WANT THEM!!!
-
Hehehe... I could spam Woo on his e-mail... :drevil: But just to make sure that it is his e-mail...
Woo, did you create the GTTC Warrior a long time ago? ;7
-
That model had something buggy.
-
Uh the reskinned aeolus? My first ever release.
It should be bugless, it was only a reskin done by using a hex editor (Modelview and PCS didn't exist back then)
-
Ouch... Your e-mail adress has been confirmed.
Wow, things have really came a long way since then... I think I'm going to cry :(
Hey, why not put in the Warrior as a cookie in INF SCP?
-
Uh as it would be a waste of table space?
-
;; $Name: GTTC Warrior?
;; blah
;; blah
-
All three testers should have just received a PM with updated files and a changelog.
-
Downloading....
-
If you have started downloading INF_Alliance.exe and 2_INF_Core.exe before the time of this message you'll need to download them again. I uploaded the wrong versions. Sorry about that.
-
Oh, good, I only downloaded Inferno Effects because my comp kept dying.
-
Testings started? Cool! Hope you don't run into anything serious. if you want any more testers let me know mate.
-
Testing started a long time ago.
-
Testing is almost completed now.
-
That means fixes, and public release soon? ;7
-
You know Woo, the master of the vague comment... :p
-
Hopefully by the end of this month. Next month at the latest.
That better?
-
Warning, grammar mistakes are abundant, Woo!!
-
Well changing text doesn't really take long.
-
Woot!
The pun... it burns! :D
-
I'm still waiting for Jovian ships... :D
-
What about them?
-
?
I want them!
-
None of them have been finalised yet.
-
I hope the Jovian destroyer isn't some reskin... :nervous:
And I also hope it doesn't get blown up by the Nemesis.
-
I don't really use reskins.
It's a new model I can confirm that.
-
I hope the Jovian destroyer isn't some reskin... :nervous:
Speaking of Orion reskins, I'm looking to acquire two Orion skins (if possible) that I saw in a screenshot on a thread somewhere around here... one of the Orions had an R1 EAish texture and had the fighterbay reversed to the left side. The other Orion (in the same screenshot) was just a reskin.
-
The EA one is the Auriga. It's in INF SCP and INFA2.
-
It's not doing anything while I'm getting this ready for release.
-
What's the connection between the Martian Orion destroyer Auriga and the EA Auriga?
-
The bridge captain of Derelict's MTD Auriga probably sneezed when he was still a young gun...
-
So many Aurigas....
-
Well, it is a terrific name...
Hmm, by a strange chance Capella's "technical" name is Alpha Aurigae... coincidence? ;7
-
What's the connection between the Martian Orion destroyer Auriga and the EA Auriga?
Mission 10 of INFA2 :p
-
Blah... Do we see it in a shipyard getting modified?
-
No
-
Auriga is cool name if you aren't Italian.
I hope your pronunciaytion is correct, unlike the speech :ick:
-
Auriga is cool name if you aren't Italian.
I'm not.
-
In fact you like it if you called a warship Auriga.
-
I'll probably give the testers till next weekend (4th Nov) then I'll officially end the testing phase, though bug reports are welcome after it. I'll start making the final alterartions then and release it once it is done.
-
Sorry for the late info, Woo, but I decided to use FRED to find the grammar errors instead of actually playing it (even though the latter is much more fun ;)). I'll probably just do one last run to sieve out the last of the errors.
-
I hope your pronunciation is correct
Is it aw-REE-gah or AW-ree-gah?
-
Don't write REEE GAH,I don't understand. If you can speak pizza correctly, you are a step ahead.
A like in "attention"
U like in "put"
R like in "rich"
I like in "pizza"
G like in "gay"
A like in "attention"
-
Updates should be more or less complete. Testers can expect one last update to the main mod file on Friday. I'll probably release the main campaign later, and the additional mods pack at a later date as I haven't edited that yet.
-
12 screenshots added to the website
http://inferno.hard-light.net/SOL/
-
They look good. I love the broadside railgun the Adrasteia is giving in the capship duel.
-
's good. I wonder when release will come?
-
Once I get a 'you don't need to change anything else' from you lot on Fridays update :p
-
You know, I think you should rebalance the entire game to make it compatible with main Inferno. :P
-
There's not enough table space :p
-
So I have simply to stop sending you reports and saying "Everything's ok"?
Well there are many things to do.
I have started an INF:A campaign. Why you don't do the same, Lumaca?
-
GTD Auriga eh? :drevil:
-
So I have simply to stop sending you reports and saying "Everything's ok"?
Only if everything is ok :nervous:
-
Well just delay the XXX.The other things are just grammar errors,
-
I did make some minor balance tweaks, including to the convoy attack mission.
-
Wow,I have DLed the new package with THIS CONNECTION!!! Amazing!!!
I'll re-test everything in no-time... wooooooshhhhh
-
:sigh:
My computer's been acting up recently. I've tried to reformat it, but it's even worse now. The screens broken (I'm using another monitor). I can't play FreeSpace at all without extreme spasms of CTDs and crashes. :(
Of course I'll be getting a new computer by latest next weekend. :)
-
Well I'll be deleting the testers version as soon as I'm ready so you might have to download it normally like everyone else if you can't download it this weekend.
-
I'm at school now and I don't have the paper.
There still are many things which must be fixed.
-
No, I've got the files, but I can't test them properly until I get my new computer so I can transfer them.
-
I'm at school now and I don't have the paper.
There still are many things which must be fixed.
Well so far the only stuff you've mentioned is in the additinal fleet pack which isn't being released right now. So unless there's a major problem with the main mod files all is proceeding as planned.
-
Uhm no many things are about the campaign.
-
As of this moment hosting large public http file downloads is prohibited until further notice
Since this is the case INFA release may be delayed indefinitely.
-
You couldn't put it on Hades Combine?
(It'll end up there eventually anyway.)
-
No
I'll be looking at alternatives such as filefront and fileplanet since I don't want to use Bittorrent.
-
Hades Combine was Ok....
Goes for fileplanet/filefront...it shouldn't create so much problems...
-
[Cocks head askance]
Ok. I'll bite. Why do you not want to use Hades Combine? Have there been past problems with that site I'm unaware of?
-
Because they want proper hosting and not leech off Hades. However, it wouldn't work because they don't let you upload files more than 150MB or something.
-
Because I originally wanted the files hosted here so I have complete control over providing updates regularly. Since I can't do that now I'd rather use a large filestorage place that I can upload both INFA and INF SCP to in the future. INFA will be the test of whatever I decide to use before I have to use it for an even bigger mod. I don't want to have any download limits, filesize limits or any other limits placed on the files if I can help it.
I don't have anything against HC or anything :)
-
You can't blame me for that one though :)
-
Gotta blame someone... Blame the French! It's always the Frenchies' fault!
-

I would recommend that you just make a torrent or other P2P stream and use that and accept that you may not be able to patch it. There are a lot of people who really, really want to see this thing put out the door.
-
I don't have a great upload stream so I'm not using bittorrent, especially when it has a bad track record with some of the other projects that used it.
-
We have to wait.
Gotta blame someone... Blame the French! It's always the Frenchies' fault!
Snails genocide included.
-
Just be glad I didn't say Italian...
-
In that case,it would have been "Woodcock genocide" :)
-

OK, but a forewarning: there is no unlimited webhosting. Anywhere. Servers have finite capacities, and often must host multiple sites. If you' get a good webhost, the limits may be high enough to be irrelevant, but there are limits.
-
Something like fileplanet is basically unlimited. Even though they have a finite capacity, it is not something I would need to worry about.
-
My only gripe with FilePlanet is the queue. But I understand why the system was implemented in the first place - bandwidth control.
I have a FileFront account I don't use often, and it's blank right now. Only trouble with that is the system itself, sometimes the tools used for uploading/downloading/file restriction go offline from time to time, and they don't even mention how long will such tools be down for.
Would that be of any use, or...?
Just suggesting, if it helps :) :nervous: :shaking:
-
I recommend to exclude Fileplanet because of:
1)The queue;
2)The DL velocity;
3)If you're using SNAIL connections you need 5 mins to load a page;
-
Snailspeed
(http://www.seykota.com/tribe/faq/2003_mar/mar_16-22/snail.jpg)
-
If it is less than 1 gigabyte you could use www.esnips.com
-

Not to mention you gotta login before you can even get a thing. And the adverts - they're literally screaming in your face IMO. One of the many reasons why I'm going back to older games (like FS2).
-
Another option brought up in the support forum is this:
http://www.mydatabus.com/
-
Which could be ok.
-
Probably between that and Filefront at this moment...
-
Choose one of them,UL a version with all the bugs fixed so we can start the final testing.
-
Uh I won't be using a public hosting site for private internal files. I've mentioned this before.
-
Ah,it's public...
Send the updated VPs via e-mail to the testers...
-
I think that Woo's pretty secretive and doesn't want anyone knowing his email. (but I already know it).
-
I've already said that private testing files can be still hosted on the HLP server. It's just the final release that is the problem. The tester files will remain were they have always been.
-

I know his e-mail too.

In this case I'm waiting for the updated VP to test(Orion turrets, remember?).
-
How'd you find it out? Did he tell you or did you get it from stalking (like me)
-
In this case I'm waiting for the updated VP to test(Orion turrets, remember?).
I actually haven't found the problem there yet.
-
The problem is simple:the barrels and the gun firepoints do not move in conjunction. It is exploited in a mission in particular...
-
Actually it's not that simple as I have no idea how to fix that behaviour.
-
To who?
The testers get the files from the HLP server, it's just the public release that has to be stored elsewhere.
There's been no update since the weekend as I haven't had time to work on it much and so there's no new files. It doesn't stop them testing however as there isn't any show stopping critical bugs that require fixing before testing can continue.
-
He speaks about the public release :)
Or heck, even the tester's version probably
-
There is no public version yet.
-
My last report was about shipnames, cargo and the Orion.
The Orion bug seems to be connected to a strange AI behaviour, isn't it? In this case we have to accept it.
The main VPs,without considering those little bugs, are ready. The extra VP requires fixing, expecially the single missions and the docking bays of extra models.
The "main" tester has given his response. :D
-
Like I've said before I'm not worried about the extra mods stuff right now, and if the FS1 ships have errors in I'm not changing them in case it breaks things later.
-
Exact. Set the cargo properly and that ship name, then release INF:A.
-
Because they want proper hosting and not leech off Hades. However, it wouldn't work because they don't let you upload files more than 150MB or something.
I know this is an old bump (so shoot me) but i guessed this was still relevant so i decided to mention that our hosting services have change and we have a total of 298 gigs of free space on HC so we can now offer unlimited file sizes and uploading (our monthly bandwith is +3,000 gigs. which we rarely top 1% of) we have ftp accounts available to be set up and the server has for the past 3 years had no more than 30 hours total downtime.
-
Wow, this is a good new
we have a total of 298 gigs of free space on HC
Wow.... 298 gigs of FreeSpace?
-
There is no link from the INFA website to the main INF one.
-
Yeah because the main site hasn't been updated in 2 years and INFA wasn't around then.
-
Oh. :blah:
-
Yeah because the main site hasn't been updated in 2 years and INFA wasn't around then.
when wil it be updated?
-
When INF SCP comes out. ;)
