Re: Independence vs. Diablo problems
Inferno R1 really wasn't intended to be played in FSO. It's meant for retail, if I remember correctly. :/

Re: Independence vs. Diablo problems
thats why there is a patch so you CAN play it on FSO...that is most likely the problem?
Fun while it lasted.

Re: Independence vs. Diablo problems
No, it isn't. That patch was made several years ago. If any problem is with the patch, it is because the patch is simply out-dated.

I wish I had an answer for you guys... but I don't. My copy of R1 plays as smoothly as ever, no bugs at all.

If I can't re-create the bug on my machine, I can't really fix it.

EDIT: Did anyone ever Mantis this bug?

Re: Independence vs. Diablo problems
I think it's a red-alert problem. Extract the mission from INF_Main.vp and remove the "red-alert" tag in the missions editor... It's technically cheating but if it's the only thing that works...

I did. nobody responded....

Re: Independence vs. Diablo problems
its becuase snail just gave the answer.

Re: Independence vs. Diablo problems
He provided a work-around, not really an answer.

It'll be moot anyway if INF SCP gets done soon.

Re: Independence vs. Diablo problems
Gah, nobody pays attention to me :P

This bug is related to similar one that was occurring in Homesick, and both got Mantis'd together:
http://scp.indiegames.us/mantis/view.php?id=1255

Quote
Taylor says:

I've only had a chance to check Homesick so far, but that particular issue can be tracked back to a pilot file problem. The red alert data is never (re)set properly (been that way since retail) and, due to another red alert bug fix, allows ships to get an incorrect weapon count. Specifically the Deimos in this case, which was getting several secondary weapon banks, and was having a NULL ptr issue later on in the code.

That's easy enough to fix, though your pilot file is slightly fubar at the moment. But if you replay the previous mission in a build with the fix, it will have a chance to fix itself automatically.

I'll try and post a link to an up-to-date 3.6.9-based build later today for you to try out. That will probably happen before I get the chance to look into the Inferno problem, but if they are related then you should be able to figure that out pretty quickly.

Replaying the previous mission and targetting the subsystems on both the Kismat and the Diablo works for some people, but for others (me) it just caused a crash.  So far the ONLY solution that worked for me is the experimental build Taylor posted in that Mantis report.

THAT said, the build was still a little unstable, so use at your own risk.

Re: Independence vs. Diablo problems
Is this Inferno R1 or SCP?

Re: Independence vs. Diablo problems
r1, scp has not been released.

Re: Independence vs. Diablo problems
That's what I thought.

Non-SCP mods are compatible with SCP?

Re: Independence vs. Diablo problems
Eh?

If you mean "non-INFSCP mods compatible with INFSCP," then no

If you mean "non-SCP mods compatible with INFSCP", then no.

If you mean "non-INFSCP mods from other makers compatible w/ INFSCP," then yes. But it's complicated as you'd have to replace all the names of the maps to Inferno map names (there is no TCov1A, there is only INFTILE393b)

If you mean "non-SCP mods compatible with SCP," then of course not :P

Re: Independence vs. Diablo problems
LOL you sure read a lot into that.  I meant what I said.

INF R1 is a Non-SCP mod.  I have FSSCP 3.6.9 installed on my system.  My question was based on whether or not INF R1 would work on FSSCP 3.6.9, because I want to play it, but don't have the patience to fiddle with downloading different builds right now.

INF builds are only necessary for development.  You can play R1 using SCP3.6.9

Re: Independence vs. Diablo problems
Just make sure you have the SCP Patch, R1 will not work on 3.6.anything without it.
