Is it about INFR1 only or will feature new stuff?

I'm thinking of either scrapping the INFR1 thing completely (which would screw up the plot line) or doing something similar to Droid803's "Inferno Remix", but with different ships (and keeping the ones where possible).

This thing: http://www.hard-light.net/forums/index.php/topic,55561.0.html

At first I was against it, but now I see the method behind the madness.

I see...

It's a good thing to notice that the community still likes Inferno because of INFR1, even if it's pretty old. We won't delude them with INFA nor with INF SCP. :)

To be honest, even INF SCP is getting outdated. Despite it having a few good old ships, Woo should get a modeller to... "Modernize" the modpack.

In my opinion, the story/campaign is where a mod shines. If your ships are pretty, but the campaign sucks or there is no campaign, then the mod is useless. Now if the ships are used well by a good campaign, no matter how outdated they are, the mod will still be great.

That's what INF SCP people have to worry about, not how their ships look ( even though they look good anyway ).

Well, Inferno has never been that strong in the storyline department.

That doesn't happen in INFA SA, we focused on many aspects of the storyline. There also are messages that add a lot to the campaign.

The poor-storyline thing is a problem of the early Inferno releases, only. To be honest I think we worked more on the missions than on the modpack recently.

Err, no. A war as described in Inferno(*) does not allow for that much storyline at all. Really, it's only a basic storyline with lots of nuances. That's not a good storyline, that's a detailed storyline.

[* - By this I mean, war with EA, Shivans arrive, team up with EA, beat back Shivans]

Also note that the Aca Akrotiri has been used in both Blue Planet and The Procyon Insurgency, arguably two of the best mods available. With that said, I think Inferno did set a standard for mod developers to look at.

At this rate, however, the Akrotiri will be overused, which might be a problem.

Oh you still believe in fairy tales like Santa, the Easter Bunny, and free market competition principles?

Fine. Give me another carrier to replace the Akrotiri.

I don't think a full replacement is needed... :nervous:

Please note that basically everything can be resumed with a "War with X, Y arrives, Z defects, defeat Z, defeat Y, W arrives, hold back W" or similar. There are bad ideas developed in a good way and good ideas developed in a bad way. Maybe INFA1 won't be the top simply because it's a remake of something the community already knows. In any case there are more details and alternate episodes in INFA1, which is a step ahead.

Yeah, but it's not a revolution in FreeSpace storytelling in the way Transcend and Blue Planet are. It focuses a lot more on new ships and weapons and a lot less than the storyline.
