Edit Pilot - change mission
As part of my desperate attempt to continue the stunning Derelict campaign I am wondering if you can edit a pilot file and simple put yourself onto the next mission? huh? HELP?!

Re: Edit Pilot - change mission
As far as I know CSGEdit only works for retail files not FS2_Open ones. Your best hope to skip a mission is simply to edit the campaign file so that it starts on the mission you want to move to. Although if the campaign uses any persistant variables or is-previous-event SEXPs then you're stuffed.

Your other option is to make a dummy mission in FRED which has an event which comes true immediately upon mission start that allows you to progress.

That would awesome except I'm a pilot not a mission editor. I suppose I have to open the .vp file eh?

ok, off to learn to edit Freespace.

Re: Edit Pilot - change mission
Shouldn't take more than 5 minutes to do what you need to do. You make a mission with an event which is the same name as the one mentioned in the campaign file. You don't even need to have the event do anything cause by default they all come true. Then you stick the default fighter into Alpha wing.

That's pretty much it.

I'd make you one myself but I can't remember which build you're using so I can't be certain it would work for you.

Re: Edit Pilot - change mission
and then as soon as I load into the mission it comes thru and the mission and successful and off we go?

Will that help? cos even if I succeed the mission in Derelict it still doesnt move me on to the next one.

Re: Edit Pilot - change mission
The reason why you're having problems is probably because although you think you've completed the mission successfully there is an event that isn't coming true. That's either due to a bug in the mission or a bug in FS2_Open.

Either way with a new mission the event definitely will evaluate to true.

Like I said if you say which build of FS2_Open you're using I might be able to make the mission for you.

fs2_open_r_KARA_20060509.exe

Thanks BTW.

this is all quite confusing!

Worth it to play Derelict though.

Re: Edit Pilot - change mission
I get ready to edit the mission and then I realise that you haven't actually said which mission you're stuck on. I'd prefer the filename (find it in the flight simulator) rather than the name of the mission itself.

EDIT : Nevermind. Noticed the name in the title of another thread. Hmmmm. 5 seconds after looking at the campaign file things started to look awfully familiar.

Anyway here is the fake mission I said I'd make. Stick this in your Derelict\Data\Missions folder (you may have to create it first) and then jump out a few seconds after mission start.

Or you can try not losing the Sai which appears to be the problem.

Re: Edit Pilot - change mission
Thank you very much.

I did read the whole RELEASE - DERELICTSCP thread to see if there was anything, I saw that problem, I wasnt sure if it applied as I do always get the correct debriefing...either pass or fail.

Anyhow, that mission file is on my memory stick and will try it at home tonight. Thanks a ton.

DERELICT here I come!
