I always thought the 2D radar was great in that it was simple and it did the job as well as I needed.

I don't have much experience with the 3D radar, but that's mostly because I don't need it.

I guess i'm like the only person in this topic who knows how to use the 3d radar and like it :nervous:
Every pilot's goal is to rise up in the ranks and go beyond their purpose to a place of command on a very big ship. Like the colossus; to baseball bat everyone.

I won't use google for you.

Not true.

It does take a bit of getting used to, but I find it much easier to read than the 2D one.

Here's a converted 2D follower.. I use 3D now.  The only thing is if you have sporadic contact and numerous other contacts, then its a bit hard.  you have to turn a bit to see how the contacts relate to your point in the center.  And I find it funny that the 3D radar "doesn't provide situational awareness", but the 2D radar does??  The only advantage of the 2D radar was its ease of turning until a contact is right in front of you, and with a little practice, you can do that with a 3D radar, too.

I never really use the radar at all, so it doesn't really matter to me. I only use it when finding sporadic contacts. The problem with the 3d Radar is that when the blip jumps around, you don't know if the object is directly in front or behind you. However, if you just concentrate for about three seconds you'll be able to tell where it is. 3d radar FTW.

I actually found both easy to read, mostly because I think spatially, which comes in handy in multilayer let me tell you.  In that case the 3d radar was actually easier to read or at least told me more information where everything actually is. But I mostly use it because it looks cooler and is no trouble.  True in the mission where you chasing beacons because its a little hard to discern the Grey lines  with all that interference and the colors of the nebula, but it IS doable and I have done it 3 or 4 times.  Not my favorite mission to say the least.

I don't really use the Radar at all.
In fact, when I last play the few times, I didn't use it at all.
But 3D FTW.

You shouldn't have to concentrate for three seconds to find out vital information like what's displayed on the radar ;) IMO anyway.

It's worth it because it looks cooler.

I actually found  "As Lightning Falls" easier with the 3D radar. Despite the distortions, I could figure out which buoy I had to go to next much more easily

When you really need to get your bearings I'd say 3D radar is superior.
