All of the articles/threads I've read have been about building ani files...
Is there a tool I can use to extract the frames of an ani file? I'd like to make a sprite sheet.
Thanks!

Try this
http://gifmaker.me/exploder/

...That is for animated GIFs, not ANI files.
EDIT: ANIVIEW32 has a "Save All Frames" capability.

Derp.. So it is.
Appears to be some software here, but I'm not sure if they will do anything besides mouse cursors (and not sure if they have adware or are trials etc).

You can get ANIVIW32 (plus a bunch of other ANI tools) from the download link in this thread; http://www.hard-light.net/forums/index.php?topic=74758.0
