Hi. I have installed the FS2_Open mac app (version 3.6.9 from
here - one note: the disk image says 3.6.9, the file name says 3.6.9 but the version number in the info screen is still 3.6.7. I assume someone forgot to update the number) on an intel iMac (core 2 duo 2.16 GHz; 1 gig ram; ATI Radeon X1600 256 meg graphics card) and it is mostly running fine.
I have the latest Media VPs (3.6.8 zeta, including the mp-710 patches, all from
here. The nice new textures and everything load fine, and in general the game looks great - the only problem is the nebulas in the background all have black boxes around them, as though they are supposed to be transparent but aren't. This really spoils the look of the game. Anyone else having this problem? I have read in other forums that this is usually because you have outdated media VPs, but I have just re-downloaded all of them and exactly the same thing happens. What's more, installing the game under Windows (bootcamp) makes it work fine... this leads me to believe this is a mac-specific problem.
(edit) Oh yeah, I'm running it at 1680x1050 32bit, with the following command line options (in cmdline_fso.cfg):
-spec -glow -env -jpgtga -mipmap -missile_lighting -ship_choice_3d -3dwarp -warp_flash -cache_bitmaps -mod mediavps -dualscanlines -targetinfo -orbradar -rearm_timer -ballistic_gauge -snd_preload -alpha_env
Help? Thanks.
