Title: RELEASE - Fortune Hunters 2260 (TBP)
Post by: Vidmaster on February 12, 2008, 09:07:11 am
When empires rise and fall, alliances are forged and broken, wars are won and lost, the universe gives birth to its greatest heroes and myths. Some become legendary for centuries, while other ones vanish in the sands of time, buried and forgotten. And during the chaos in which the Interstellar Alliance was born, many people fought and died for the cause, some from the most unlikely places...

difficulty problems? ->   http://www.hard-light.net/forums/index.php/topic,52253.0.html   (dont be ashamed)

IMPORTANT NOTES:  ;7
1.) REQUIRES USE OF THE INF BUILD!!!
2.) REMOVE ANY PREVIOUS FH RELEASES, the first installment is included here.

DOWNLOAD LINKS:
Mirror 1:  http://proxima-fleet.com/files/download.php?id=10  (thx to Primus once again)
Mirror 2: http://www.freespacemods.net/download.php?view.44 //Added by swantz because the other site has been down for some time.

For all those many people who did not  :( play the first one: DO NOW!
For the people who enjoyed  :o the first: REPLAY IT, to be on the safe side. The Hunters are pretty plot heavy, especially the new episode. Update your basics.

Features: (same concept as FH2259)
- action-packed trip through exotic canon places in the B5 universe
- immersing storyline and writing
- MAJOR battles

Install as usual, just put the vp in your TBP folder. And remove the old FH in case!

Known issues:
- game crashes right away => I SAID USE THE INF BUILD! That's a independent program in your TBP folder
- the game sometimes crashes in Mission 8. => That issue is known. The reason not. Sorry.

Have fun     -      Vidmaster

An intense and well-thought out campaign, methinks. Also,

Spoiler:
That cliffhanger ending is going to gnaw at me now!

I have to say that I loved some of the combat in the missions, particularly slaughtering foolish Shadow fighters in a borrowed Nial. Awesome sauce.

  YAY!!!! Can't wait to play these again.  Come to think of it, never did finish 2259, I think during a long mission involving the Drazi I had a bug where I never received the jump out message after everyone left and thus had to replay it, which I really didn't want to do.

Then use the Inferno build which isn't FRED and isn't for debugging.

there SHOULD be a program called fs2_open_3_6_9_INF in your TBP folder.

The game's launcher defaults to the standart build, so pay attention to that.

Post by: Vidmaster on February 13, 2008, 08:14:57 am
got the first bug and oddly enough, it's in 2259 and not in the new episode. A minor change I made had some silly side effect. Replaced the campaign with a fixed version.  :)    Thx to noodle for reporting  :)

IF MISSION 3 OF 2259 IS UNBEATABLE, PLEASE REDOWNLOAD.

TBP is a stand alone program.  You should not be running it out of your FS2 directory.  You need to download and install it in it's own directory.

more minor glitches, nothing that really spoils the expierience. Will fix them when I have the time.

Spoiler:
for example: M12 Enfili's right beam cannon doesn't fire at base

Why not? It's not like the builds are really different, you realize. :P

I really like the general mission structure and story for the campaign so far.  With the exception of having to fix game balancing issues for maybe two missions thus far, it's been pretty fun.  One thing I've been wondering, and forgive me because this may be more of a pof issue, but does the Vree Saucer have its trademark "Rain Cannon" that was seen in Shadow dancing?

Anyways, asides from a few game balance issues for two missions, this is really something.  Looking forward to the end. :D

Just finished it. It's awful and  extremely difficult (the "Alexander" and "Drazi Firehawk" missions).
Are you... one person Vidmaster ? If you don't precise that I must be thinking that you're a group of people. I can hardly believe all that much was done by just one person.
Thank you very very much for this great campaign.

I have problems whit the second part of Reunion.
After jumping out of hyperspace my HUD isnt funktioning right. Depending on the direction I move my ship all I can see is the space backround, or all elements of the HUD, but no objects (like ships or laser shots). Its pretty weird and hard to descirbe, espacially whit my crappy english. The same issue occured with the intro cutscene, but know this bug prevents me from further playing.

Do you have a screenshot?  What version of TBP are you running?  3.4b?  Are you using the inferno build?
Title: Re: RELEASE - Fortune Hunters 2260 (TBP)
Post by: Zombimode on February 15, 2008, 03:02:14 am
Jep, Im using 3.4b and the inf build.

After jumping out of hyperspace it looks like this:
(http://img257.imageshack.us/img257/3281/fs2open369inf2008021509dv4.th.jpg) (http://img257.imageshack.us/my.php?image=fs2open369inf2008021509dv4.jpg)

When I turn my ship arround I get this picture, when I hit the right angle:
(http://img341.imageshack.us/img341/2715/fs2open369inf2008021509ky0.th.jpg) (http://img341.imageshack.us/my.php?image=fs2open369inf2008021509ky0.jpg)

When I start my engines and hit the right angle I get a HUD which is normal on the first sight.
(http://img177.imageshack.us/img177/5673/fs2open369inf2008021509vx3.th.jpg) (http://img177.imageshack.us/my.php?image=fs2open369inf2008021509vx3.jpg)
Looks normal, right? But now I tell you that Im firing my guns. And you cant see the shots (or anything else besides the HUD and the backround).
And take a look at this saturn like planet. Looks a bit two dimensional. Well, this thing is actually moving like it was a real objekt and not a backround texture.
As I said its pretty weird.

@Vid:  Nope didn't touch a thing.  I made the screenshots after I sent you the files.  Even then the only thing I touched was making myself invincible in a few missions to get some better shots.  Didn't even need to do that for this mission good screenies were easy to come by.

@Zombimode:  Are you running in Direct3D or OpenGL?  Are your video drivers up to date?  Also try downloading the campaign again.  Maybe some sort of file corruption??????  Although I don't know what in a mission file could cause that type of effect.  It's like it's 2 dimensional.

I really love the mission 12.  The S4 B5 opening theme was a nice touch.  I am wondering though, it feels as if it should've taken longer for the Minbari cruiser to finish off a battlecrab seeing how those ships are meant to withstand a lot of punishment (well with the exception of Vorlon weaponry).  In general this was a very fun campaign.  And I can't wait to see the Whitestar fleet show up and save the day! (this is my assumption of how the current situation will be resolved, but hey I could be wrong!)

why do everybody expect the whitestars?   to give a little hint: NOBODY WILL SHOW UP! NO FRIENDLY, NO ALLY, NO HELP FOR YOU!  ;)

mission 12 is my favorite too, although I had to fake the background music. There are two small glitches in that mission, I'll fix them soon.

Everybody's expecting the whitestars because they haven't shown up yet and I'd love to see them in more battles against the Shadows other than the TWO that were seen in the show (fleet battles that is).

However, since you're saying that they won't show up,
Spoiler:
I'm guessing that the Shadows will just leave because of Z'Ha'dum getting nuked

I am German  :)    I waited a long time for someone to notice the strange names I used

but the "Schwartzkopf" is actually a canon ship, although I suspect the writer (JMS) didn't do his research, since it's "SCHWARZ" (means "black" in German). The ship's name translated: Black Head  :blah:

anybody has an idea?

I haven't seen that one before. Didn't happen during my tests either.

I have that same problem with the 3.3 and 3.4 on two of my computers, only my notebook with it's ancient ass video card drivers (seriously I bought it in 2003 and NEVER updated them, everything works fine on that fine lil' Toshiba :-D ) runs the thing. The same thing happens to me in "the black hand", "The raider wars 2.0"  in the 3rd to last mission and "Starfury Pilot" right from the beginning. I see a hud and static objects, but no models, no shots and none of the wireframe models in your hud indicating ship health and target view. I cannot move around, I can shoot and activate things but I cant see a thing behind that static screen. You should see the flashy corruption effects when I fire the afterburner, I can HEAR them, and the screen goes epileptically wild - see the screenshots posted by zombimode and imagine them in a fast rotoscope...

--------UPDATE----------
I got the thing to run on said notebook, no frozen screen in 2259 any more, but now right at the beginning of 2260 where you watch the intro sequence in game graphics, it gets as far as showing the terran and Brakiri fleets, and then at the Shadow Crab sequence, firing its beam across the screen the game crashes without any error message, not even a thing in the debug build (which I tried just to see if there was any report on what went wrong...)  :ick:

anyone?

I've got an odd problem, forgive me if it's been mentioned before.

On the mission where I have to escort the Brakiri cruiser to a meeting with the shadows, and everything goes south, for some reason this mission is unwinnable.

Right around the time I finish dealing with the second wave of shadow fighters, the Harvester just dies. It goes from 100 percent hull integrity to a flaming cloud of expanding debris in about five seconds. I'm not sure if the Shadow cruiser hit it with it's main beam weapon or what.
I tried taking out the shadow warship's main beam, but it's got an invincibility tag.

Will check but that's definitly odd.

To win the mission, you must ignore the Shadows and just flee (approach the Harvester). If you stay too long, the Shadow SHOULD fire a beam and blast the Harvester. Maybe some graphical glitch

Anybody else something like that?

I spent too damn much time blasting those shadow fighters. The battlecrab must've nuked the Harvester

Hey all looks like an awsome build!  Quick question though...

I was using the launcher that came with the core download of TBP and made sure I was using the INF file...applied it and then selected play.  I selected the 2260 campaign and get to the point in the intro were the Shadow Crab fires its beam but then I get the windows error box saying that Fs2_..yada yada yada has encountered a problem and must shut down.  ANy ideas?  I'm still trying some things but I have no idea what else it could be.  Thx
Title: Re: RELEASE - Fortune Hunters 2260 (TBP)

well, actually this happens if you don't use INF  :)   check your launcher settings, because it defaults to the standart build.
Title: Re: RELEASE - Fortune Hunters 2260 (TBP)
Post by: RogerWilco on February 21, 2008, 07:42:57 pm
Well I checked and applied the INF file again and it still hangs up in the same spot on the intro.  Here are the launchers config settings and it shows using the fs2_open_3_6_9_INF.exe

#
# DO NOT EDIT THIS FILE
#
[launcher]
exe_filepath = C:\Program Files\The Babylon Project\fs2_open_3_6_9_INF.exe;
game_flags = -ambient_factor 65 -spec -glow -env -jpgtga -mipmap -nomotiondebris -2d_poof -missile_lighting -dualscanlines -targetinfo -orbradar -rearm_timer -ship_choice_3d -3dwarp -warp_flash -tbp -snd_preload ;
active_mod = ;

I have run out of ideas.  I am using the FS2 Open launcher (ver 5.5b) that came with the TBP.  Please tell me it's something De de de that I'm doing...trust me I can handle the noob comments.
thx!

Btw that Dark Children campaign is awsome to play!

maybe you could try putting it in a mod folder? (make a folder in the babylon project directory, put the .vp file in it and select the folder in the launcher's mod tab... if you dont know) and then create a new pilot.

or try redownloading the .vp

or try using the ...INF_debug.exe and post what it says if it crashes there again.

for me - having the same problem see second threat page - it doesn't say anything at that point, however I do not get ANY error message when the game crashes, regardless of which build I use. It just kicks me to the desktop

but I will try the mod folder thingie...

Hey vidmaster for all its worth i played the campaigns 2259-2260 and there freaken awsome. Im a huge B5 fan have the entire series on DVD but i was dissapointed with not many shadow encounters in 2259 but it makes sence since the shadows didnt start revealing themselves untill 2260 i think you got the idea. What would be great to see in 2261 and the fortune hunters aiding Sheriden and his forces durring the last parts of the shadow war, as well as the rebellion against Clarks forces. Id like to see more interaction with the main story of B5 with fortune hunters it would make the adventure so thrilling not that it isnt already. I hope 2262 will be as good as well and hopfuly you will combine it with crusade there is soo much things that could of been done with that series. these are just some ideas i thought i could lay ont he table. anyway thatks for a great game series i hope you make more in the future. BTW i was also thinking about a rangers game and a better game based on the shadows, still just some thoughts. GREAT game vidmaster keep it up.

FH2261 features Into the fire.  My PC is dying  :shaking:
but it will also be the conclusion, there are currently NO plans to connect it with Crusade. I have not even decided the ending yet, there are two scripts for that. Struggling to choose one, since both are very dramatic and heroic.

This is actually aggravating me a lot currently, since it seems no matter what I do in the Help Hague Escape! mission, I lose. I was at least expecting the Nova to get reamed by the forward beams of the allied ships, but it doesn't really happen. It also aggravated me more than a little that after the mission the suggestions were "don't hunt fighters so much" when I had spent the whole mission sic-ing my wingmen on the fighters and blasting turrets off the Omegas.

For that matter, I don't think I actually lost Hague's ship. The mission ended abruptly and I didn't see his ship explode.

Well TBP's efficient poly usage should make it more scalable to Battle of Endor scenarios than most mods. Oh and I demand too see a Xill fly over something and pummel it with it's anti matter cannon.

Will there be an os x version anytime soon?

well, if there will be an OSX version of TBP, this campaign will work on it.

By the way, if you get the data files, it *should* be possible to play it on a Mac by just using the mac builds instead of the Windows ones but I am no expert on this  :nervous:

VP files and the stuff therein work just fine on Macs.

So if TBP works on a mac okay (haven't tried), then Fortune Hunters ought to also.

Hey vid,
do you remember my strange problem with mission 6? (page two of this thread I think)
Well, I sort of "solved" the problem. And by solved I mean hacked the mission file.
I deleted in the events "jump", "cut1", "cut2" and "after jump" all references of camera position switching and hud disabling. Deleting only the camera switching or the hud disabling had no effekt. Only without both I have a funktioning Hud and can play the mission.
Since this problem doesnt appear to evryone I suspect its a rare bug in the code that only appears with a certain system  configuration.
Anyway, at least I can play your campaign now :)

glad to hear that. Maybe you should Mantis the bug, since it's probably related to the cutscene code.

Have fun  :)

rogerwilco and hansebee, is your problem solved? Did you try to change the renderer (from DirectX to OpenGL or vice versa?)

I have this same problem and I´ve tried changing the render and I am using the INF build.

I´m using Vista, if it haves any difference.

Sry-
been playing some other FS mods...

Anyway, yea I've tried the INF build, using a different launcher, using s separate file and selecting it as a MOD, tried OpenGL and Direct X, different DL sites, and still 2260 won't work.  2259 plays like a champ though!  And Dark Children is a nice one to play as well

OPS, I posted the direct download link and skipped the page were the description is.

unzip the fix and put it into data/missions. Then start the INF build normally. You may have to restart the campaign by pressing restart in the campaign selection menu for the fix to have effect.
Be also sure that you have the most recent version of FH2260

Someone have an idea how to fix it?

And btw mission 6 really hard....(how to protect ea alexander without cheat) :>

Thanks in advance

sure you are using the INF build? 2259 works without, 2260 doesnt !
Title: Re: RELEASE - Fortune Hunters 2260 (TBP)
Post by: fimbul on May 11, 2008, 09:33:32 am
So with INF Build you mean I have to change config to:

#
# DO NOT EDIT THIS FILEt
#
[launcher]
exe_filepath = C:\Program Files\The Babylon Project\fs2_open_3_6_9_INF.exe;
game_flags = -ambient_factor 65 -spec -glow -env -jpgtga -mipmap -nomotiondebris -2d_poof -missile_lighting -dualscanlines -targetinfo -orbradar -rearm_timer -ship_choice_3d -3dwarp -warp_flash -tbp -snd_preload ;
active_mod = ;

or do I understand something wrong? (I downloaded TBP and using Launcher to start it)

Btw "Dark Children" also really nice idea and cool made, but cant understand how to win mission where I meet the vorlon 1st time

You should click the browse button at the top of the launcher and select that build rather than editing the ini directly but that should have the same effect.

I'm havin problems with Fortune Hunters 2259 Mission 5 "That's Nasty".

After having destroyed all drazi ships trying to ambush me, I followed the Big Cash and Pandora out of the Asteroid Field. I expected them to make the jump to hyperspace and end the mission, but nothing happened. Both ships killed their engines and then hung dead in space. In fact, the Pandora even collides with the Big Cash but neither ship is trying to move away or make the jump... And Idea what's going on?

By the way, I'm using the Inf_Build for 2259 Fortune Hunters as well.

Had the same issue today, posted here >> http://www.hard-light.net/forums/index.php/topic,54394.msg1115565.html#new (http://www.hard-light.net/forums/index.php/topic,54394.msg1115565.html#new)

It was not in the previous version because the mission worked just fine then. Retried several times with normal 3.6.9 TBP build, not the INF version.

oh god  :shaking:    it's the AI   the AI refuses to reach the waypoint. I don't believe it.
The mission scripting is flawless, the problem is the TBP capship AI  :hopping:

Wait a moment, I do a fix.

redownload and replace :)

you know, I am starting to have nightmares (exaggeration!!!) about FH2259.

Sure it's a cool campaign, sure I am still not sick of playing it BUT it's also my first work. It contains the first mission I ever fredded (in fact, it contains the first 9 missions I ever fredded ) and I would do a lot of things differently now.
As a beginner's work, it has all the little glitches, problems and bugs of a first work.
I got rid of the most by now but until I redo the whole campaign from scratch (which will never happen because I don't want to and because I am to lazy), something will go wrong all the time.

The same as in the other two campaigns:
You will be playing the events of 2261 from the Hunter's perspective        :P
As usual, I will be playing around with the canon, adding new layers to the B5 story.

Examples from 2259 and 2260:
Spoiler:
Like explaining in 2259 how the Narns actually got the information about the Centauri's Supply Planet or how Hague escaped at Io in 2260 or why the Alliance of Light started to buy conventional warheads at the end of Season 33 (it worked in 2260 M12).

Sorry but the story is one of the best aspects of my FortuneHunters campaigns, I won't give anything else away.  :wtf:

I hope I get it finished until Spring 09.
