I'm starting a daily (hopefully) pick your favorite screenshot thread. Every day I will add a new set of screenshots from a TBP mission or two. Look through them and pick the ones you like. I will then upload the favorites as content on ModDB.
Since I was already looking at Raider Wars I started there. Todays shots are from the Intro and Mission 1. There are 49 of them but you will notice each one twice. First is the straight screenshot. The one below it is with the gamma adjusted to about what I see in game.

And how to "pick" ? I meaned, how to let you know which one I like while there is a bunch of them ?

1,3,4,,9,29,45 but I don't want my suggestion to count any more than any other punter. Also I think the gamma variations are too dark and too light respectively. Half way between would probably be perfect. It's a toughie. Too dark and you can't see anything. Too light and the lack of shadow makes everything look flat.

Click on the pic and open it. The file name will show in the address bar. Alternately you can just put the mouse pointer over it and look at the url in the lower left corner.
@ IP I can do a set half way in between. Wouldn't take long.

I made the file easy to edit for just such an occasion. :D
Finished. The webpage is in order but the file names aren't. Basically a filename ending in a is gamma 1.6, b is 1.3 and no letter is default 1.0. I play at around 1.5 - 1.6 depending on which computer I'm on. This may be one of those things that's going to vary from computer to computer. What looks good on my system might not on yours and vice versa.

Fixed.
It seems only the gamma corrected images have the letter at the end.

I like the darker ones.
I'm tempted to trust Angelus and others on this as I am viewing these images on a laptop which tends to make everythinga bit darker (ie: the letterless images might appear too dark for me when actually they are quite nice).

I usually like the "b"-varients most, but I guess it really depends on the picture. The darker ones look a bit more threatening so they would be better for sneak missions or the nightmare mission.

This mission is dark, so I don't have any problems with some dark shots. Bright systems, dark systems, both good. Sets different moods.

I too tend to think most of the b (1.3 gamma) variants came out better. There are some exceptions. First pic is more then bright enough at the standard gamma. Some others are hard to make out even at the 1.6 gamma. Guess that's why were voting.

still, most are pretty epic. I would also like to see at least a few screenshots with actual HUD to post at ModDB, some people still think this is some kind of Homeworld rip-off.

Yea I know when I switched computers I forgot I had debug mode on. It's only there for these 2 missions and the first pick of mission 4. Rest won't have it. At least the FPS didn't show up.

TBP's moddb rank seems to have hovered between 30 and 40 out of 850 since this thread started. :)

Actually it jumped even before I posted that first set. Even the votes and watchers jumped over 50% in the last week. Did another magazine article or something get released?

Good idea to use something other than RW. You can only have so many Zephyr pictures. Lots of great Victory shots in this set but I limited myself to a handful. The defence grid is always good for a light show.

Yep and that was what I did. There was a just a typo in the results. I posted 6b instead of 7b as a winner. Fixed now. The right mission did get uploaded.

By the way FUB, you could post additional screens from RW3 and Defense, even if some got fewer votes. Hard to get bad shots from these two missions and both showcase the big battle scenes of TBP well.

I've got quite a few more already ready to go. I'm going to cut back to about a set a week though. The good part is I'm getting a lot of testing done with 3.6.10. Other than that one RW mission 9 variable problem no other engine bugs. Quite a few mission bugs from doing crazy things to get the pics.

I was going to go back and make a page with the winners and either put them on the website or just link to where they are. If I leave them where they are it doesn't eat up HLP resources and I could even leave them all there. Even if I go that route I'll make a winners page. Probably do a thumbnail system like I did for the background page.

Sounds good. Could be coupled with a cull of the crappier screenshots from the website. Some of them are really old and don't reflect the mod in it's current state. Anyway, one for the future. I'm happy to help with this.

What's next? "Storm the Castle" from RW or "Against the flood" from FH2260 are intense and beautiful looking missions.

Not sure what's next but these will be put up tomorrow. Well later today. I have some more RW and EMW Demo ones ready to go. A few of them came out great if I do say so myself. I could start playing DC or FH again. See how they do in 3.6.10.

well, if DC makes trouble I won't update it again (that mini-campaign drove me crazy during testing). And both FH campaigns have undergone massive updates since the last release (which will be included in the Trilogy release, as usual) which will require all new test runs, although they seem to work. So maybe you should wait with that campaign.
After all, we got plenty of screenies now. I say just pick a few exceptional missions (again, like Storm the Castle) for a few additional ones and that's it.

I've already started giving every one I see negative Karma. Starting on the next batch I am going to do that and then delete them. If it continues after that I will see if I can file a complaint. Other people are PO'd about him too. Tried to check his profile today and he made it private so others can't view or leave him messages.
BTW Vid I have the pics from the FH mission ready to go. Should be on that RW mission next. First couple of DC missions are done as well with no real bugs. One cap didn't get killed by the Shadow beam in mission 2 but that's more of a FRED issue. It was only at 5% so it took no time at all to kill it.

I don't think anyone else did either. Quite a few bugs on EMW Demo and RW if you play on insane.

did you use the currently released version? Probably so. (because there is still that Harvester not firing bug at the end). Don't bother searching for it, it's already fixed (for the trilogy release). Very cool and cool-looking mission.

Kind of hard to pick a clear winner with only 2 of you voting but I'd have to say 69A was the victor. I uploaded the rest that received more than one vote along with the remaining ones with one vote I liked best to round out the 10 picks.
I'll be posting the next batch shortly. Kind of lost track of what I have and haven't done and more importantly what I have and haven't got ready for upload. I'd like to get some more multi pics and not just ones of me playing multi by myself. Have to remember that next time I play multi (won't make the 12th due to an appointment that day).

Well he kept posting even after I deleted them so I contacted ModDB. Just got a reply back and he is now banned from posting any comments anywhere on ModDB. Problem solved.

maybe I should revive or remake this campaign. A full Earth-Minbari War campaign, including the good missions from this demo (1 to 3). The Battle of the Line missions redone with the background battle sexps by FUBAR for FH2261. Would be cool.
BUT, I should release that one first :lol:

Path of Blood made me think perhaps an EMW campaign might actually have been an entertaining campaign to write. Especially now we have the Avenger, Tiger etc... Still I would want to keep it short as it would probably be unrelentingly bleak.

yeah 12 to 17 missions, not more.
What's making my Hunters so great is the incredible speed of events happening, as well as the resulting mission and enemy diversity. In an Earth-Minbari war, the selection is somewhat limited. We can't do a FS2 30 mission campaign :lol: again, that's something for the future.

Besides how often can the same pilot escape almost certain death from a superior enemy, untill it begins to feel strange...

You could do something different like having a EMW campaign with 2 points of view. One mission you play an EA pilot the next a Minbari pilot.

I'd be interested in how a campaign like that would affect a player emotionally. In one mission you could witness a terrible massacre and in the next be the cause of a terrible massacre. Mind blowing.

I'm not so sure about that.
I think it would ruin the mood of both.
I mean, for the minbari the humans were primitive murderers or even monsters deserving nothing but extermination.
And the humans saw the minbari as pretty much the same as the minbari saw the humans.
Now if you switch around all the time, it's hard to really feel like your the good guys and they are the bad guys.
Even if you start out with a minbari completely into the "holy war" and slowly coming to understand that they are wrong would be better to have in it's own campaign I think.

I don't think so either. I imagine such a campaign would sympathise with the Minbari initially. The loss of Duk'hat was clearly a tragedy for the Minbari of 911 proportions. Starting the campaign flying from their perspective you might even buy into revenge genocide. Then suddenly the tables are turned and you spend a few missions flying for the Earth Alliance witnessing the mass slaughter of your friends and comrades first hand. When you return to flying for the Minbari again you're probably going to have more doubts before pulling the trigger, as the other Minbari were according to Delenn, as the war progressed. I think this story has a potential to make a real emotional impact and convey a strong anti-war message.

I thought it would switch after one or two missions, which I think wouldn't work.
If it just switches around every chapter so to say it could work.
But it would still be very hard to make in a good way. But I'm confident that we have some people here talented enough to make it work well.

Back to the topic at hand. You guys didn't make it easy for me this week. Voting was all over the place again. 4way tie on mission 4 and 5 way tie on mission 5. They will be up on ModDB shortly.
