I actually started this a couple weeks ago as part of our FringeSpace / Tachyon facebook group,
but we're looking for additional players to join into Black Prophecy, which is a F2P space combat MMO.
Based on some old posts, there used to be some people at HLP that played.
A trailer -
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-Khe6bPHL4EBasically it's got some of the mouse control scheme from Freelancer, but otherwise plays a bit like Xwing.
You can do PvE instead of PvP if you wish, they are their own things. There's some emphasis on team play
and clan play, with separate mission groups for each. Sticks, gamepad, and mouse are supported.
Essentially I've already spent the in game time and credits to found a clan and buy a sector so we can build a unique
space station. We just need people to fill it. See some examples here -
http://blackprophecy.gamigo.com/forum/showthread.php?t=5211There's also fairly robust character creation if you're into that. Couple one's I've made.

Some other notes:
We're in the Genides faction. Our group is named The Fringe Alliance or TFA.
GSC voice server is operational. Tachyon, Freespace, or Black Prophecy players are welcome, or whomever
wants to stop by. You need GSC from
http://www.getgsc.com/ You can add the server either by searching for
"fringespace" (it's the 8106 one), or by IP which is 8.6.74.202 Port 8106 It's got separate rooms and can hold
up to 200 players.
BP has a separate game offshoot that just started up where you can control capships.... in what looks to be
a EVE or RTS style system. That's called Nexus Conflict. Not sure if they're planning on merging BP which is mostly
fighter based, or not.
Part of the reason I'm into this is that it has some decent ideas in the game that I'd like to incorporate (with our own
flavor) as part of FringeSpace. It's good to see what does and doesn't work so you can do it one better. One of those things
I'm interested in is the clan interaction elements and how having your own sector/station affects players. So you could call it
an experiment of sorts.
Some of the FS staff has joined our group, so it's also a chance to hear what we're doing internally, besides waiting on me
to update on our home section here (of which I'm admittedly slow to do). It's also good to chat and get feedback on what you think.
