Been expecting that for years, and even more so in the past month after his final medical update. Still bit of a shock.
Respectfully, WTF is Rest in Peace
-
Well... just...
I can't think of the right words. Are there any?
...
I'm 33 too.

RIP John Bain.

Sad to see another go to cancer.
May he find peace in whatever lies beyond.
RIP.

There's a fundraiser for his memorial if anyone's interested

:/ That sucks. I saw this yesterday (after somehow never having seen / heard he was terminally ill), saw he was born in 1984, and I was like.. wow.. dude's pretty much my age. Wish we had better answers for cancer.

The problem with "cancer" is it's not one disease. It's many diseases and in consequence, it's finding not cure but many as well. Some cancers have cures. Some have treatments with better prognosis. And some are far worse (pancreatic).

Hopefully research in Naked mole rat DNA, Tardigrade DNA, Stem-cells, and other things can alleviate some of these cancers.
It's a difficult set of problems but at some point science will have answers.
Not sure it will be in our lifetimes tho.

May he rest in peace.
My family seems to be cursed by cancer. My grandma and my grandfather died because of it. My other grandfather had cancer, three of my aunts had breast cancer, my father had lymphoid cancer and is currently undergoing radiation therapy, my cousin had prostrate cancer, which errupted three month ago, my godfather had lymph gland cancer, but is ok right now.
And I have the nagging feeling that something in my thorax or more precisly just below my breast bone is not right...
I used to say the moment I get cancer diagnosed, I drive my car against the next tree with full speed... but now, as I am an uncle to a little boy...
I mean cancer sucks, but we only got this one live... I wish the wife of Total Biscuit the strength she needs to get through this sad episode.

The discussion about a software developer working for Bioware saying something unwise has been split out and moved to this thread (https://www.hard-light.net/forums/index.php?topic=94787.0)

Always tragic when someone does early. Be it illness or accident, all due respect to the recently deceased but I'd confused him with Cynicalbrit.

Of Cynical Brit or TotalBiscuit? Who did you think Cynical Brit was?
-
It could be any Brit, really.

It could be any Brit, really.
Are you implying that the British are a cynical people? What on Earth gave you that idea? ;)

I don't know where you got the idea from.

ANYWAY. Here's probably my favorite of his videos:
If you're impatient and want to skip him fiddling with FOV sliders and such, skip to 6:34
Annnd the video for one of his absolute favorite games:

My most memorable one from him

If you have any experience with Terraria, and really even if you don't, I highly recommend his Let's Play with Jesse Cox. They're both irredeemably horrible at it, and it's fantastic.
