Is Admiral Petrach in command of the Aquitane in this campaign or is someone else?

inferno takes place in 2401, i don't know the state of medicine in the time, but he still may be perfectly healty at the age of 85 (assuming he was in his mid 50s during FS2).  All the hecates were scrapped however

No, no no... He was killed in 2384 when the Aquitaine crashed into the surface of Pegesi X...

Given that Admiral Petrarch was probably in command of the whole Capella-era 3rd Fleet, and the Aquitaine was the flagship of that fleet, his modern-day counterpart would probably command the Independence (flagship of the INF 3rd Fleet). The bigger and more powerful destroyers will be commanded by Vice Admirals, and then the lower end ones by Captains. The INF 3rd Fleet would have about a half dozen destroyers and carriers for combat operations, with the Independence co-ordinating all activity from a fortified zone.

A "fortified zone" kind of like the area where the Diablo comes in?

That was different, the Diablo completely outclassed the defenders.  The destroyers would have killed it had it not jumped away.

I wouldn't really call the Diablo blockade mission a fortified area :D

We're just 'pretending' the first version of Chapter 1 didn't happen.

No Star-Trek like alternate timeline technobabble excuses here my friends ;)

For a flagship, the Independance does alot of missions alone. It's too vulnerable to attack. If my flagship commanded a fleet, then it would move with the fleet, period!!

Okay, it would kind'a take away the manuverability, but the combined fire of the 3rd fleet could probably have leveled the Diablo, and could (if manuvered correctly in a well-planned operation) even give the Gigas a run for its money.

You won't see it as much in the new campaign.

The Gigas should be able to take a GTVA fleet on its own, never mind with its own support.

first time i saw the icelus aquitaine i thought it was a refitted hecate... until i read the tech room description

Is that before or after the Independance's skilled fighter/bomber wings have disabled its engines and turrets, leaving the Independance to wipe it out, while the rest of the 3rd fleet holds the shivan node to prevent reinforcment:D?

As they say, woomeister "size doesent matter" :ha:

Unless you happen to be the gargant of course:lol:

The Warlock doesn't have that type of offensive capability anymore, and a total disarm of the Gigas is impossible.

Hmm... the usual subsystems have more hits than the ship thingy?
Latest FRED build complained about it to death...
BTW it complains even for some [V] models

That and with the subsystem strength, it would take you a very long time :D
