Title: Dedicated Server Port Failing to Connect
Post by: CenturionModel0005 on February 20, 2013, 04:28:49 am
Hello I am trying to set up the standalone server and it seems that there must be a bug with the standalone server not  connecting to the ports and making connection I have removed the firewall and The server still can not be seen in the lobby must mean that the standalone has a bug I had the support check all ports and they are open we can run other application through the same port number But the Diaspora Standalone server will not connect and use the ports.

I live in China so obviously not during the night time there. Apart from that, you have a reasonable chance of catching me at any time since I don't have any work for the next 4 days or so.

One thing to check first, does your standalone appear on the list of Diaspora servers (http://fs2netd.game-warden.com/?area=activegames) on the FS2NetD site?

No You can not see it listed

I have a 512 man Teamspeak3 server if it would make life easier

Okay, that is strange. This isn't an issue with forwarding ports then as that only becomes an issue once you can get the server to be listed.

Do you actually have an FS2NetD account? Have you plugged in the details to your copy of Diaspora before trying to run the standalone?

yes I have a FS2NetD only 1 I guess that I can use this to set up my server

Have I plugged in the details to My copy of Diaspora before trying to run the standalone?

If that means did I add these lines to my multi.cfg
+pxo_login MYUSERNAME
+pxo_password MYPASSWORD
+name

then yes

Hmmmmmm. I've never actually edited the multi.cfg before. What I've always done is to simply run in non-standalone mode and then entered the details into the multi options screen. Try doing that instead.

And double check that when you're going to the FS2NetD site, you're selecting Diaspora as the active mod. By default it will only show the FS2 servers on that page.

Unfortunatly dedicated boxes do not have graphics cards they are solely for things like Standalone servers teamspeak3 servers MQSQL Databases

I will try to start the game but I have a feeling it will tell me that no graphics adapter is present.
Give me a day or so and Ill get back to you I'm currently not at home

Ah, if you have no graphics card, that won't work then.

I'll do some testing myself and see if that is a possible issue.

I tried But I could not start game as I thought I am told OpenGL failed Pixel or something

If you would like I can send you my Box Login so you can take a look at it in a Dedicated Server Enviroment

Hmmm.... I don't know much about the multiplayer but I think it is basically the same as the FS2 one. You might have better luck in the main multiplayer section of the boards.

http://www.hard-light.net/forums/index.php?board=135.0 (http://www.hard-light.net/forums/index.php?board=135.0)

I do know that multiplayer support was not a main focus of this release, hopefully more support will be added in later installments. But, most likely the person(s) who end up coding the multiplayer engine are going to be stolen from the FS2 team. So, hopefully you can find an answer there.

Sorry I'm not much help. Hope the issue gets resolved soon.

Actually no. Pretty much anyone involved in multiplayer coding is a past or present Diaspora member.

I still think chatting about this on IRC will help but you keep logging on too early for me to actually be awake and moving. :p

I'll be home pretty much all day tomorrow so whenever I recover from the hangover I'll likely have tomorrow is good. :)
