Re: TROUBLESHOOTING - Pretty Black Screen
Looks good. :) Well done.

Now copy your entire Freespace 2 folder from Parallels to your OS X Desktop like this:

- First, make sure Parallels is running in a window and not full screen.

- Starting in the screenshot you just posted, click on GOG Games at the top of the screen.

- There'll then be a "Freespace 2" folder icon on the right on the screen. Click and drag it out of the Parallels window to your desktop in OS X. Wait a few minutes for all of the files to copy over.

Then try following the instructions from before, starting with the part about getting the BP build.

Re: TROUBLESHOOTING - Pretty Black Screen
Game launched successfully.

Experiencing quite severe joystick problems, I'm spinning around uncontrollably however it detects the joystick is there (after burner works)

Finally, the game won't launch in full screen mode, only in a window, fix?

Re: TROUBLESHOOTING - Pretty Black Screen
Okay, progress.

As for the joystick, is it selected on the launcher's basic settings tab? Unfortunately, for the time being, you need to plug in your joystick before you start the launcher. If it's already plugged in, restart the launcher.

Try the in-game options menu, go to control config (one of the big icons on the bottom), then go to the ship section, then to the pitch or yaw axes (towards the bottom of the list I think), and try to bind them to your joystick. If they bind, good sign, if not, that means the game isn't seeing your joystick, in which case check the launcher's basic settings.

What kind of joystick is it again? What brand and model?

As for full screen, is "run in window" selected in the checkbox list in the launcher's advanced settings tab? It's under "Dev Tool" near the bottom of the list. If it is, uncheck it.

Other than that, check the video resolution on the launcher's basic settings tab and make sure it's set to your screen's resolution. The correct option is probably the first one on the list of resolutions.

Re: TROUBLESHOOTING - Pretty Black Screen
Thanks for pointing that screen resolution screen thing out, I was set on 1080 and my iMac can go 2560x1440, I'll just go and adjust that right now......
Joystick is an F-16 combat stick from the dinosaur days.

Fixing the screen resolution fixed my problem with the screen size, thanks.

I still can't fix the joystick at all. It responds to after burner and weapons release but I think maybe my controls are inverted or something like that.
I have X and Y scrolly thingies on the joystick (which back in the day when I had the CD version of FS2 would fix me spinning around) aren't solving the problem.

Re: TROUBLESHOOTING - Pretty Black Screen
Did you check the things I mentioned about the joystick, and if so, what was the result?

If the problem is the joystick not being detected, the trim wheels (scrolly thingies) won't help.

Re: TROUBLESHOOTING - Pretty Black Screen
ALL PROBLEMS FIXED

Joystick is working, graphics are god-like and the game is running smoothly. Thanks guys so much for all of your help.
I guess now the only thing to make this completely perfect would be to find out whatever happened to Admiral Bosche.....

Thanks guys once again. Please keep this post alive just incase I encounter any problems with War in Heaven.

Please do not make duplicate topics. We can just as well deal with your support needs here. And just as with the previous issue, we cannot really help you without your current fs2_open.log.

Re: TROUBLESHOOTING - Pretty Black Screen
Did you download jg18's build for Blue Planet? In the launcher, when changing from standard Freespace to Blue Planet, did you select engine 3.6.17 (unofficial)? That's what you need to play Blue Planet, but not standard Freespace 2. It looks like you are encountering the errors I encountered before using jg18's build.

Indeed I did, still no luck.

Re: TROUBLESHOOTING - Pretty Black Screen
odd ... try using it with the -no_glsl option. That actually caused problems for me in Snow Leopard, but might fix issues for you in Lion (some people it worked better). In the launcher, under Advanced Settings, check Disable GLSL (shader) support or in the the custom flag area write -no_glsl. See if that helps.

Re: TROUBLESHOOTING - Pretty Black Screen
Denirio, we need your log in OS X, not Parallels. Look at the instructions again.

When you post your log, please use "code" tags. Click on the button with the image on it that appears when you compose your post, and paste the log within those tags.

Code: [Select]
Press Preview before pressing Post and make sure that the log looks like this.

You'll need Keka to extract the .7z files from the WiH release thread in OS X.

Also, very important, after you've set up WiH in OS X, open the .dmg with the unofficial BP build again, open the blueplanet2 folder in it, and drag the data folder in that to your blueplanet2 folder. The blueplanet2 folder should be created when you extract the .7z files (to your Freespace 2 folder in OS X).

When you're done setting things up, the blueplanet2 setup should look like the image in this post.

Also remove -no_glsl before you play, since you shouldn't need it.

Ach, I didn't notice he had posted from Parallels. :)

"The Unarchiver" on the Mac App Store should also work (and is free).

Re: TROUBLESHOOTING - Pretty Black Screen
I can't get the code now because after moving everything around, wxLaunder won't even recognise that BP2 is a mod. Screenshot of my files attached.
When I launched blueplanet AoA by itself, all of the ships engines had a giant black box protruding from them.

Re: TROUBLESHOOTING - Pretty Black Screen
You're missing the mod.ini for blueplanet2 and blueplanet2 should also have a data/tables/bp2-shp.tbm - similar to blueplanet/data/tables/bp-shp.tbm. Your file structure should look like the attached:
